Full job description

AW Construction is a Folkestone-based construction company delivering a broad range of commercial construction projects across the South East of England and London. Our works are predominantly strip out, refurbishment, fit out and basic build in nature. Our clients include universities, shopping centres, housing associations, light industrial units and a wide range of public and private sector organisations.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Marketing and Business Development Manager to join our expanding team.

Based at our Folkestone office, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the business by identifying new opportunities, developing relationships with existing and prospective clients, and strengthening AW Construction’s presence across our target markets.

Working closely with the company director and wider team, you will help develop and implement our marketing and business development strategy, promote our capabilities and completed projects, and identify opportunities to secure new clients, projects and framework positions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, commercially minded individual who enjoys building relationships, generating opportunities and taking ownership of marketing and business development activities within a growing construction business.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

Identify and develop new business opportunities across our target sectors and geographical areas.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, consultants and key industry contacts.
Research potential clients, projects and market opportunities
Work closely with the company director to identify target clients, sectors and areas for future growth.
Attend client meetings, networking events and industry events, proactively following up enquiries and introductions.
Identify and pursue suitable frameworks, approved contractor lists and procurement opportunities.
Maintain records of business development activity and provide regular updates on opportunities, progress and outcomes.

Marketing

Develop and implement a practical marketing strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
Manage the company’s website, social media channels and wider online presence.
Create engaging content including project case studies, company news, capability statements and presentations.
Develop targeted marketing and email campaigns to engage existing and prospective clients.
Maintain consistent company branding and identify opportunities for PR, awards and industry promotion.
Monitor marketing performance and coordinate with external designers and marketing suppliers where required.

Tender and Pre-Construction Support

Prepare case studies, project experience and marketing content to support tender submissions.
Assist with presentations and other client-facing material associated with new project opportunities.

Key Skills & Experience

Previous experience in marketing, business development or a similar client-facing role, ideally within the construction industry
Strong commercial awareness with a proactive approach to identifying and developing new business opportunities.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence engaging with clients and decision-makers.
Strong written English with the ability to produce professional and engaging marketing content.
Good understanding of digital marketing, websites and social media, particularly LinkedIn.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience producing marketing materials, presentations, case studies and company literature.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages.
Experience with CRM systems and knowledge of construction procurement would be advantageous.
Professional, proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
