Dalzells of Markethill is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and customer-focused Sales Consultant to join our busy Home Appliances & Stoves Department.
Established in 1956 and celebrating our 70th anniversary in 2026, Dalzells is a long-established, family-run business with a strong reputation for quality, value and exceptional customer service. We work with leading manufacturers and suppliers across the home appliance, stove and home furnishing sectors, offering our customers an extensive choice of products and expert advice.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced salesperson to join an established team and develop their career within a diverse and fast-moving retail environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering an outstanding customer experience from initial enquiry through to sale and after-sales support. This will include:
- Advising customers on a wide range of domestic appliances, stoves and related products.
- Handling customers face-to-face, by telephone and through online correspondence.
- Understanding customer requirements and recommending suitable products and solutions.
- Processing sales, placing orders and liaising with manufacturers and suppliers.
- Coordinating with our delivery, warehouse and other departments to ensure a smooth customer journey.
- Dealing confidently and professionally with customer queries and resolving issues where required.
- Using your own initiative to identify solutions and exceed customer expectations.
- Working as part of a wider team while managing your own workload effectively.
The role also provides opportunities to attend industry trade shows, manufacturer training and product events throughout the UK and Ireland, giving you the opportunity to develop your product knowledge and industry expertise.
Essential Criteria
- Proven sales experience, ideally involving high-value products.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service experience and a genuine customer-first approach.
- Good IT skills and confidence using computer-based systems.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and find practical solutions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
- Flexibility regarding working hours.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Home appliances, stoves, fires or flooring/carpet.
- E-commerce, wholesale or tendering.
- Content management systems, particularly WordPress or Drupal.
- eBay or Amazon marketplaces.
- Merchandising and stock management.
- Industry systems including Tradeplace, CIH/Portway, CIR or Ncompass.
Industry experience is not essential for the right candidate. We are particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate strong sales ability, excellent customer service and a willingness to learn.
