Job Description:
Your impact
At Leonardo, we're developing the next generation of Radar and Advanced Targeting systems that help protect people, assets and nations around the world.
Supportability is fundamental to the success of these complex systems. As a Principal Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Engineer, you'll play a leading role in shaping how our products are supported throughout their entire lifecycle, from concept and development through to in-service operation, sustainment and eventual disposal.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ILS professional who enjoys influencing product design, solving complex supportability challenges and working across multidisciplinary engineering teams. You'll have the opportunity to act as a technical authority, drive supportability strategy and directly influence the availability and operational effectiveness of Leonardo's cutting-edge defence technologies.
What you'll be doing:
-
Lead the development and implementation of Integrated Logistics Support strategies across Radar and Advanced Targeting programmes.
-
Shape supportability requirements during the design and development lifecycle to optimise operational availability and through-life cost.
-
Influence product design decisions through supportability, maintainability and sustainment considerations.
-
Define and document In-Service Support solutions including repair strategies, spares provisioning, test equipment, support equipment and field support concepts.
-
Lead Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) activities and provide oversight of LSAR generation and reporting.
-
Interpret customer supportability requirements and key performance indicators including Availability, Reliability, Repair Turnaround Time and Fill Rate.
-
Collaborate with engineering, programme management, manufacturing and customer-facing teams to deliver integrated support solutions.
-
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to supportability engineers across the team.
-
Support customer reviews, bids and proposals, providing expert supportability input throughout the business lifecycle.
-
Contribute to continuous improvement activities, helping shape supportability best practice across Leonardo.
Working across the Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business you will be actively involved in analysing, assessing, and influencing the supportability characteristics, supportability strategy, and performance of the next generation of Leonardo Radar and Laser products.
We're interested in hearing from experienced Supportability or ILS professionals who can demonstrate expertise in delivering support solutions for complex engineering systems.
You may have experience in:
-
Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) or Through-Life Support.
-
Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) and LSAR development.
-
Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) principles.
-
Maintenance Task Analysis and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA).
-
Sparing and provisioning analysis.
-
In-Service Support strategy development.
-
Defence, aerospace, maritime, rail, nuclear or other highly regulated engineering environments.
-
Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Experience with supportability modelling tools such as OPUS Suite, SIMLOX or similar would be beneficial but is not essential.
What you'll bring:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
The ability to communicate effectively with technical specialists, programme stakeholders and customers.
-
Experience influencing engineering decisions through supportability insight and evidence-based recommendations.
-
A collaborative approach and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
-
Degree-qualified in an Engineering, Science or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.
