Due to continued growth, we are looking for a capable and detail-focused CCTV Drainage Survey Engineer to join our survey and drainage operations.
About the Role
As a CCTV Drainage Survey Engineer, you will carry out CCTV drainage surveys across domestic and commercial sites, using inspection, mapping, and tracing equipment to understand drainage layouts, identify defects, and produce accurate reports.
This is a technical, practical, and customer-facing role. You will be trusted to investigate drainage systems, assess problems, gather evidence, record findings clearly, and provide useful information that supports repairs, maintenance, insurance claims, construction work, and client decision-making.
The role is ideal for someone with drainage or CCTV survey experience who wants varied work, regular site exposure, specialist training, and the chance to develop within a growing technical division.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Carrying out CCTV drainage surveys across domestic, commercial, and multi-site client locations.
- Using CCTV survey equipment to inspect drainage systems accurately and safely.
- Using drain mapping, tracing, and sonar equipment where required.
- Identifying flow direction, pipe routes, drainage layouts, defects, blockages, damage, misconnections, and other drainage issues.
- Recording clear evidence of survey findings.
- Producing accurate survey reports, supported by images, video, plans, and technical notes where required.
- Diagnosing issues and recommending practical next steps.
- Communicating findings clearly to supervisors, clients, and internal teams.
- Working safely around drainage systems, confined spaces, live sites, roads, homes, and commercial environments.
- Maintaining survey equipment, vehicles, tools, and reporting systems.
- Completing job records, site notes, and documentation accurately.
- Supporting the wider drainage team with technical insight and practical problem-solving.
- Representing Express Solutions Group professionally while working on client premises.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
You will need:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in drainage, CCTV drainage surveying, drain inspection, drainage engineering, or a closely related role.
- Strong understanding of drainage systems and common drainage defects.
- Ability to carry out accurate site investigations and interpret what you find.
- CSCS card or equivalent.
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate survey reports.
- Practical problem-solving ability.
- Reliable, professional, and customer-focused approach.
- Right to live and work in the UK.
Desirable Training and Qualifications
The following are desirable but not essential. Training may be available for the right candidate:
- WinCan experience.
- Confined Space training: Low, Medium, or High Risk.
- High-Pressure Water Jetting certificate.
- OS19X Pipe Classification qualification.
- NRSWA / Street Works.
- EFAW: Emergency First Aid at Work.
- Drain mapping or sonar tracing experience.
- Experience working on commercial drainage surveys.
- Experience supporting remedial recommendations or quote preparation.
