Job Description

To assist the Building Standard Team in dealing with the registration and validation of applications and associated tasks.

Requirements

Under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure Check.

Responsibilities

Carry out the receipt and validation of applications received by the Building Standards Service.

The provision of advice and guidance to staff in relation to matters concerning technical duties within Economy, Enterprise and Operations Services.

Participate in projects for Economy, Enterprise and Operations Services where a technical input is required.

Contributing to the effectiveness of the service.

The Individual

Significant experience working in a multi-disciplined office

Experience of reading and interpreting plans

SQA Standard grades or equivalent at level 3 or above including English & Maths

Alternatively consideration will be given to candidates with considerable relevant experience

Excellent oral/written communication skills

Analytical approach

IT Skills

Negotiating Skills

Self confident and self motivated

Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to effective team work

Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Professional

Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently

Ability to relate well with all levels of staff

Willingness to work in a demanding position where a flexible and corporate approach is required

Willingness to accept direction/delegation

A commitment to deliver quality services to agreed standards

Ability to develop effective working relationships

Appreciation of and acceptance of, and commitment to the importance of confidentiality

Ability to work in open plan office

Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service

Ability to work in different office depending on service requirements

Starting Salary: £29,519.10

£15.66 per hour

36.25 hours per week
