We have an exciting Highway Network Steward vacancy within the Transport, Highways and Climate service in Cheshire West and Chester Council.
This role will be part of a team that are responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the Council’s Highway Network to ensure that the Borough is safe and accessible for all road users.
Your primary purpose is to ensure that the Highway Network in your area of the Borough is maintained in a safe and useable condition for all Highway users.
The role is to act as the first point of contact for the Highways Service in dealing with enquiries from the Public, Statutory Bodies, Parish Council's, Ward members etc.
Good communication skills are essential as Cheshire West and Chester is an organisation that strives to provide excellent engagement with customers, individuals, communities and partners and deliver the highest quality of service to all stakeholders.

The contractual work location for this role is the Area Highways Office in Guilden Sutton Chester. The role is hybrid flexible, and this means that the successful candidate will be required to work from a range of work locations within the Borough but predominantly from the Chester Office. You will be given a Council van and be out of the office each day investigating enquiries on the Highway around your specific area within the Borough of Cheshire West.
You will be given the opportunity to act as an Out of Hours Duty Inspector where you will be put on a rota and report to an Out of Hours Duty Officer. This entails being called by the Duty Office during the night and at weekends and attending any Highway incidents throughout the Borough in a works van. Overtime and Standby allowance is provided for this.
