vFlow Health is a growing clinician-led private healthcare and wellness provider delivering services from fixed clinic locations, partner venues, mobile clinics and temporary event locations across Lancashire.
Our services include IV infusion and vitamin injection pathways, blood testing, DNA testing and comprehensive health assessments.
Patient safety, responsible prescribing, clinical governance and high-quality care are central to everything we do. Treatments must only be provided when they are clinically appropriate, safe and in the patient’s best interests.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and dependable Independent Prescriber to join vFlow Health on a flexible, part-time, zero-hours basis.
The successful candidate will conduct patient consultations, review medical histories, assess treatment suitability and make safe, independent prescribing decisions within their professional competence.
This is a mobile position involving travel between vFlow Health clinics, partner venues, pop-up clinics and temporary treatment locations. Applicants must therefore hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own reliable vehicle.
Hours will be offered according to clinic schedules, events and patient demand. There are no guaranteed minimum weekly or monthly hours. Shifts will be offered in advance wherever possible, and the successful candidate may accept or decline work according to their availability.
Once a shift has been accepted, the successful candidate will be expected to attend and complete the agreed hours unless prevented by illness or another genuine emergency.
Hourly Rate
The hourly rate will be between £35 and £45 per hour and will be determined by:
- Professional background and registration.
- Independent prescribing experience.
- Experience with IV infusions and injectable treatments.
- Ability to undertake cannulation, phlebotomy and treatment administration.
- Clinical leadership or governance experience.
- Level of responsibility required during the shift.
- Evening, weekend or bank-holiday working requirements.
The agreed hourly rate will apply to authorised clinical working time. Travel between assigned vFlow Health locations during the working day will count as working time where applicable.
Authorised business mileage will be reimbursed separately and will not be included within the hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities - Patient Consultations and Assessments
- Conduct thorough face-to-face and, where appropriate, remote patient consultations.
- Obtain and review relevant medical history, current medication, allergies and previous treatment information.
- Assess the patient’s general health, symptoms, treatment objectives and clinical risk factors.
- Identify contraindications, medicine interactions and circumstances requiring further investigation.
- Review relevant blood-test results and other clinical information where required.
- Determine whether a patient is clinically suitable for a proposed treatment.
- Request additional clinical information when required before making a prescribing decision.
- Refer patients to their GP, urgent care or another healthcare professional when appropriate.
- Decline, modify or postpone treatment whenever it is not clinically appropriate.
Prescribing
- Make safe and responsible independent prescribing decisions.
- Prescribe treatments only when clinically appropriate and within professional competence.
- Produce clear, accurate and patient-specific prescriptions.
- Follow current professional standards, recognised clinical guidance and company prescribing procedures.
- Ensure that prescribing decisions are based on individual clinical need.
- Document the clinical reasoning supporting each prescribing decision.
- Review treatment effectiveness and arrange follow-up where required.
- Escalate complex or unclear cases appropriately.
- Refuse to prescribe when adequate clinical information is unavailable.
- Maintain professional independence and place patient safety ahead of commercial considerations.
IV Infusions and Injectable Treatments
- Assess patients for suitability for IV infusions and intramuscular vitamin injections.
- Review allergies, current medication, contraindications and relevant clinical risk factors.
- Approve appropriate patient-specific treatment plans.
- Provide prescribing and clinical support to authorised nurses and healthcare professionals.
- Where appropriately trained and competent, undertake or assist with cannulation, venepuncture, IV infusions and intramuscular injections.
- Monitor patients before, during and after treatment where required.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to adverse reactions, anaphylaxis, extravasation, vasovagal episodes and other clinical emergencies.
- Ensure appropriate escalation and follow-up following an adverse reaction or clinical concern.
- Confirm that emergency medicines and equipment are available before treatment commences.
Medicines Management
- Support the safe ordering, receipt, storage and use of medicines and clinical products.
- Ensure medicines are prescribed, supplied and administered under the appropriate legal authority.
- Support appropriate cold-chain management at permanent and temporary clinic locations.
- Check storage conditions, stock-control records and expiry dates where required.
- Identify and report medicine errors, near misses, product defects and storage concerns.
- Follow company procedures relating to medicine disposal and clinical waste.
- Maintain accurate records relating to medicines where this forms part of the assigned duties.
Clinical Records and Consent
- Maintain complete, accurate, timely and confidential clinical records.
- Document consultations, assessments, prescribing decisions and follow-up arrangements.
- Explain the proposed treatment, potential risks, limitations, alternatives and aftercare requirements.
- Obtain and document valid informed consent before treatment.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with data-protection requirements.
- Ensure clinical records are completed to the standard required for internal audit and regulatory inspection.
Clinical Governance and Patient Safety
- Follow vFlow Health policies, clinical protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Comply with professional, regulatory and legal requirements relevant to the role.
- Report and appropriately manage adverse events, near misses, complaints and safeguarding concerns.
- Participate in clinical reviews, incident investigations and quality-improvement work when required.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.

- Escalate unsafe practice or clinical concerns immediately.
- Cooperate with audits, compliance reviews and regulatory inspections where required.
Team Support
- Work collaboratively with nurses, phlebotomists, healthcare professionals and administrative staff.
- Provide clinical advice and prescribing support during assigned shifts.
- Support clinical staff in managing complex or higher-risk cases.
- Maintain professional and respectful relationships with partner venues.
- Attend relevant clinical meetings, training sessions and case reviews.
- Promote a culture in which patient safety takes priority over sales or treatment numbers.
Mobile and Flexible Working
- Travel between vFlow Health clinics, partner venues and temporary treatment locations.
- Work independently while maintaining communication with the wider clinical team.
- Confirm that the treatment environment is clinically appropriate before commencing work.
- Check that required documentation, medicines, equipment and emergency resources are available.
- Maintain the same clinical standards across permanent, mobile and temporary locations.
- Be available for an agreed range of weekday, evening or weekend shifts.
- Notify the appropriate manager promptly if unable to attend an accepted shift.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have:
- A recognised UK Independent Prescribing qualification.
- Current registration with the NMC, GPhC, HCPC or another appropriate UK healthcare regulator.
- Independent Prescriber status recorded with the relevant professional regulator.
- Demonstrable experience making independent clinical and prescribing decisions.
- At least two years of relevant post-registration clinical experience.
- Experience conducting patient consultations and reviewing medical histories.
- A strong understanding of medicines management, contraindications, interactions and prescribing accountability.
- Knowledge of consent, confidentiality, safeguarding and clinical record-keeping.
- Current Basic Life Support training.
- Current anaphylaxis recognition and emergency-management training.
- Excellent communication, organisation and clinical decision-making skills.
- The ability to work independently and accept professional accountability.
- Confidence declining treatment when it is not clinically appropriate.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate business-use motor insurance.
- Willingness to travel throughout Lancashire and surrounding local areas.
- The right to work in the UK.

Desirable Experience

Contract and Working Arrangements
This is a part-time, zero-hours position. The role does not provide guaranteed minimum weekly or monthly hours.
Working arrangements will include:
- Shifts offered according to clinic schedules, events and patient demand.
- The ability to accept or decline offered shifts according to availability.
- No requirement to remain continuously available when no shift has been agreed.
- An expectation that accepted shifts will be honoured.
- Variable working locations across Lancashire and surrounding areas.

- Payment only for authorised hours worked, training attended and other specifically approved working time.
