Full job description

Role Overview:

Responsible for analysing business requirements and designing data-driven systems and analytical solutions to support pricing strategies, marketing optimisation, and profitability within an ecommerce retail environment. The role bridges business needs with technical solutions using data analytics, machine learning, and system design principles, with a strong focus on revenue growth and P&L performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Gather and analyse business requirements related to product pricing, discount strategies, marketing performance, and overall profitability
Design and implement data-driven systems and analytical frameworks to optimise pricing, promotional strategies, and revenue generation
Apply machine learning and text mining techniques to large datasets including customer behaviour, competitor pricing, and market trends
Translate business requirements into technical specifications for data models, reporting systems, and analytics workflows
Evaluate and enhance existing IT systems and data processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and decision-making
Perform predictive modelling and data analysis to support pricing, offers, and sales forecasting
Analyse digital marketing and social media data, including campaign performance, customer segmentation, and sentiment analysis
Support marketing strategy optimisation through data insights, improving customer acquisition and retention
Contribute to P&L analysis, including revenue tracking, margin optimisation, and cost-performance evaluation
Provide data-driven insights to improve profitability, pricing margins, and return on marketing investment (ROMI)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver integrated business and IT solutions
Ensure data governance, quality, and GDPR compliance
Develop dashboards and reports to support strategic, financial, and operational decision-making

Tools & Technologies:

Programming: Python, SQL, R
Techniques: Machine Learning, Text Mining, Predictive Modelling
Platforms: AWS Cloud
Tools: Microsoft Excel, Data Visualisation tools
Methodologies: Agile / Project Management

Education & Experience Requirements:

Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Minimum 8 years of professional experience in data analysis, business analysis, or data-driven system design
Proven experience in handling business data, analytics projects, and delivering data-driven insights
Demonstrated experience in marketing analytics, pricing strategy, and P&L management
Experience in ecommerce or retail sector (preferred)

Ideal Candidate / Personal Requirements:

Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business and financial goals into technical solutions

Experience working across data analytics, marketing performance, and financial (P&L) analysis

Proficiency in machine learning, data modelling, and large-scale data processing

Ability to generate insights that directly impact revenue growth and profitability

Strong understanding of pricing strategy, margin optimisation, and marketing ROI

Excellent communication skills to present insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience in E-commerce, digital marketing, and customer analytics

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, data-driven environment

Knowledge of data governance and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR)

Pay: £35,420.00-£65,982.51 per year
