Full job description

Group Payroll Clerk

[Monthly Payroll c315 Employees, diverse payroll with many variable elements including Commissions, Zero Hour Contracts and significant other elements. The individual will need to be a self-starter able to interact with a wide range of stakeholders.]

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Group Payroll Clerk to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently for multiple departments within the organisation. The ideal applicant will have experience with various accounting and HR software systems, demonstrating strong data entry and analysis skills.

Duties

Payroll Processing: Collect and verify employee timesheets, calculate wages, deductions, bonuses, and commissions for the Group.
Record Maintenance: Update payroll records with changes in employee status, benefits, exemptions, job titles, and department transfers.
Reporting: Prepare payroll reports summarizing earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, and non-taxable wages for management and regulatory purposes. As well as supporting with other monthly Group reporting requirements. Post monthly payroll journals and complete balance sheet reviews for the payroll related codes.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to labour laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analysing relevant information.
Employee Support: Respond to employee and other stakeholders inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits while maintaining confidentiality.
Audit: Support the half year and year end audit, providing reconciled supporting evidence on a timely basis.
Ad hoc: Support with employee contracts and recruitment. Drive improvements to process and other ad hoc requests as required.

Experience

Proven experience working as a Payroll Clerk or in a similar role within an organisation that utilises Sage or comparable HRIS systems
Strong data entry skills with high accuracy levels
Experience handling accounts payable tasks related to payroll processing
Demonstrated analysis skills to interpret payroll data effectively
Knowledge of human resources practices related to payroll administration and compliance standards
Previous exposure to processing large volumes of employee information in a fast-paced environment is desirable

Skills

Efficient Time Management: Ability to prioritise own work load and ensure that essential deadlines are met. Ability to ensure that legal and regulatory timescales are also adhered to.
Communication: Ability to interact professionally with employees and management while handling sensitive information.
Confidentiality: Trustworthiness to manage sensitive financial and personal employee data.

This position provides an engaging environment for professionals passionate about payroll management, human resources support and organisational efficiency.

Hours are 37.5 per week Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 5pm and Friday 9am to 3pm. The role is based at our factory in the Willersey Industrial Estate, a hybrid element is considered for the right candidate.

Pay: £30,000.00-£37,500.00 per year
