Overview
We are an established engineering company based in Dover, Kent, with a fully established premises in Chichester. Due to continued growth we are looking to recruit a Project Engineer to join our busy team.
Scope of the Job: The Mechanica Project Engineer is responsible for supporting Senior Project Managers and Project Managers, to ensure the safe efficient and profitable delivery of our projects. The Project Engineer is the conduit between the project managers, our client and the site teams. The role should aim to achieve a 50:50 site and office base split. The role encompasses the full turnkey tasks of the project lifecycle, to include, surveying, specifying, quoting, delivery and commissioning, including all aspects of onsite Health and Safety
The Project Engineer reports to the Project Managers on a day-today basis and to the framework manager
The Project Engineer ensures that the company meets our requirements and objectives within our processes and our policies and procedures for Health and Safety, quality and environment.
Location: South England (Dover HQ with office in Chichester & working sites based across the Southern region)
Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm Basic Hours
Job Tasks
- · Support the Project Manager in delivering projects from design through to commissioning and handover.
- Assist in planning and scheduling project activities in accordance with client specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure technical compliance and delivery timelines.
- Prepare and review technical documentation including method statements, risk assessments and project reports.
- Monitor project progress. Identify risks or issues, and propose mitigation strategies. Attend site meetings and liaise with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards throughout project execution.
- Manage quality assurance processes including inspections, testing and documentation.
- Support cost tracking and provide input for project budgeting and forecasting
- Maintain accurate internal and external documentation for project records and regulatory compliance.
Procurement & Contracting
- Compile quotations for future potential projects, liaise with our Scoping Manager and Engineer to ensure smooth hand over process.
- Liaise with our key subcontractors and suppliers to ensure value for money and lead times are met or exceeded, negotiate and gain efficiencies including cost reduction on their bill of materials and services.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting of Field Teams
- Review and manage monthly WIP forecast, job management in EMIR,
- Line manage up to 3 field team staff members, lead and support the direct reports.
- Contribute to monthly safety stand down sessions and monthly 1:1 with direct reports
- Ensure our teams are allocated to work and aim for no more than 10% non-productive hrs per week
Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with Field Teams, Project Engineers fellow Project Managers, finance teams, and client representatives
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration between team members
- Ensure proactive communication with our customers – seek feedback and report to the wider team
- Report as required to our customers on progress of projects
- Adhere to client Health and Safety reporting
- Adhere to customer quality requirements, including pollution and water quality reporting
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure our operations comply with legal, regulatory, and company standards.
- Identify risks associated with projects
Process and policies
- Accurately work to our processes and lead other team members on ensuring these are adhered to.
