Join the Nanny Bears family as a Senior Early Years Practitioner – Duckspond Road, Buckfastleigh...

About the Role

This is a part-time position working 24-25.5 hours per week over three days, fixed to Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday as your working days.

As our Senior Early Years Practitioner, you will have your own key group of children, supporting their learning and development while playing an important role in leading the team and maintaining the high standards that Nanny Bears is known for.

Unlike a room-based role, you will work across both nursery rooms, providing leadership, consistency and support wherever it is needed. Working closely with the Nursery Manager and Deputy Nursery Manager, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery, supporting colleagues, modelling outstanding practice and maintaining high standards of care and education throughout the setting.

Your responsibilities will include:

Acting as a Key Person for your own group of children, building strong partnerships with families.
Supporting the day-to-day leadership of the nursery team across both rooms, leading by example and promoting a positive, collaborative working environment.
Providing guidance, mentoring and day-to-day support to colleagues, helping them deliver outstanding care and education.
Planning and delivering engaging, play-based learning experiences in line with the EYFS across all age groups.
Supporting children's learning and development through meaningful interactions and high-quality teaching.
Creating a calm, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued and inspired.
Supporting the management team in maintaining high standards of practice, safeguarding and compliance.
Helping to ensure consistency of practice across the nursery by supporting both rooms as required.
Encouraging creativity, curiosity, independence and confidence throughout the nursery.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for every child.

This role is perfect for an experienced practitioner who enjoys variety, is confident working with children of different ages and is ready to take on greater leadership responsibility while continuing to spend the majority of their time working directly with children.

What We're Looking For

Essential

Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
Previous experience working within an Early Years setting.
Experience supporting or leading a team, such as a Room Lead, Senior Practitioner or similar leadership role.
Sound knowledge of child development and the EYFS Framework.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
A positive, caring and enthusiastic approach.
Ability to motivate and support colleagues.
A genuine passion for providing exceptional care and education.

Desirable

Previous experience in a senior or supervisory role.
Experience supporting staff development or mentoring colleagues.
Confidence in supporting the day-to-day running of a nursery.
A commitment to continuous professional development.
