Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real impact, take on exciting challenges, and be part of a team that's shaping the future of aviation?
At Malloy Aeronautics, you'll play a key role in helping us develop innovative technology that's changing the way the world moves.
We're on a mission to revolutionise unmanned flight. At Malloy Aeronautics, we develop advanced heavy-lift UAVs for both defence and commercial applications.
What sets us apart is our in-house approach. From design and engineering to manufacturing and testing, the majority of our work happens under one roof in Berkshire, allowing us to innovate quickly, maintain exceptional quality, and bring ideas to life faster.
For our teams, that means hands-on involvement, real ownership, and the opportunity to help shape the future of aviation.
Responsible for supporting the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of electronic systems used in UAV platforms. Acts as the key link between design engineering and production, ensuring that electronic components and assemblies are built to specification, are testable, and meet quality and performance requirements. Works closely with technicians, design engineers, and supply chain teams to improve build processes, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure repeatability and reliability in the final product.
Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK
What you’ll being doing (but not limited too):
Support the assembly and production of PCBAs, wiring looms, and electronic modules used across UAV systems
Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), build instructions, and test guides
Investigate and resolve build issues, non-conformances, or test failures in production batches
Collaborate with electronics design engineers to improve DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DFT (Design for Test) practices
Create and maintain wiring diagrams, test reports, and traceability documentation for regulatory and quality compliance
Define and optimise production tooling, test rigs, and custom fixtures to streamline assembly processes
Perform or support functional testing, continuity checks, and basic debugging of circuit assemblies
Track build status, yield, and rework metrics to support production performance monitoring
Contribute to the selection of production methods and equipment for new electronic designs
Support continuous improvement in build quality, reliability, and efficiency across electronics production workflows
Procurements machinery for PCB development and manufacture – develop business cases to ensure full justification for capital investments
Essential Skills and Experiences:
Hands-on experience with electronics assembly, fault diagnosis, and test equipment (e.g. multimeter, oscilloscope)
Proficient in interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings
Strong attention to detail and process discipline in manufacturing environments
Clear communicator with the ability to document procedures and train technicians effectively
Able to collaborate across teams (engineering, operations, QA) to resolve production issues efficiently
Organised and proactive in identifying and implementing improvements to production processes
Flexibility in task structure – adaptive planning
Desired Skills and Experiences
Extensive knowledge on PCB and how they are manufactured
PCB rework and assembly experience
Good understanding of PCB layout, component types, circuit functionality, and common failure modes
Knowledge of test procedures, validation steps, and fault isolation methods for electronics
Understanding of BOM structures, engineering change control, and traceability requirements
Good working knowledge of coding languages – C/C++, Python, Power Query etc
Desirable: experience in low-volume/high-reliability industries such as aerospace, automotive, or robotics
Desirable: Awareness of UAV subsystems (e.g. power distribution, flight control, telemetry) and their integration requirements
Desirable: Familiarity with electronic manufacturing processes, soldering standards (e.g. IPC), and ESD precautions
Desirable: Experience with PCB designing – DFM/DFA process involvement
