Import Operations Clerk

Location: Felixstowe, Suffolk
Job Type: Full-time

About the Role

Schallenberg International is seeking an experienced Import Operations Clerk to join our growing operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating import shipments, customs processes, and ensuring excellent customer service throughout the shipment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate import shipments from arrival through to final delivery.
Prepare and process shipping and import documentation.
Liaise with shipping lines, hauliers, customers, warehouses, and customs agents.
Monitor shipments and provide proactive customer updates.
Arrange deliveries and transport bookings.
Ensure compliance with UK customs regulations and company procedures.
Resolve operational issues efficiently while maintaining accurate records.
Deliver a high standard of customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Previous experience in an import operations or freight forwarding role.
Strong working knowledge of UK import procedures and customs clearance.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple shipments.
Experience with freight forwarding or customs software is advantageous.
