About the Role: As a Production Chemist, you will play a key role in developing, running, and optimising chemical production processes within our Colchester based operations. You will ensure products meet strict quality requirements while maintaining safe and efficient manufacturing practices. This role is ideal for a chemist with strong practical skills, a problem‑solving mindset, and a passion for industrial chemistry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise chemical processes to support efficient, high‑quality production.
- Run and monitor mixing and repackaging operations, including safe handling of sensitive or air‑/moisture‑reactive reagents.
- Conduct quality control testing on raw materials and finished goods to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Identify and troubleshoot production issues to improve overall process efficiency and minimise downtime.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation, including batch records, test results, and technical logs.
- Collaborate with management and production staff to resolve technical challenges and enhance manufacturing procedures.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality regulations, including safe handling of hazardous materials.
What We’re Looking For
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of industrial chemistry and chemical process operations.
- Experience using analytical instruments (e.g., GC, HPLC, spectroscopy).
- Excellent problem‑solving ability and high attention to detail, particularly regarding safety and documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in a production, manufacturing, or laboratory environment (3+ years preferred).
- Knowledge of GMP and industry safety regulations is advantageous.
- Additional specialist or on‑the‑job training may be provided.
