The role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive registered Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and supportive pharmacy team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley. You will work within a collaborative environment to deliver high-quality, patient-focused pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients receive maximum benefit and minimal harm from their medicines. This is a key role in supporting the ongoing development of pharmacy technical services, contributing to the advancement of practice for both Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

This is a part-time position (28.8 hours per week), typically worked over four days (09:1817:00, Monday to Friday negotiable). The post also includes participation in weekend and public holiday working as part of the service rota.

Key responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the dispensary, including supervision of staff and oversight of workflow. This requires the ability to prioritise effectively, maintain safe and efficient processes, and communicate clearly with colleagues.

On a rotational basis, you will also manage the pharmacy service within the Discharge Lounge, supporting timely patient discharge, reducing ward waiting times, and helping to alleviate pressure on hospital resources. This includes accuracy checking of discharge prescriptions; therefore, a recognised Dispensary Accuracy Checking qualification is essential. You will be expected to work independently, maintain high levels of accuracy under pressure, and communicate effectively with prescribers, nursing staff, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe supply of medicines.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Candidates must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and demonstrate a high standard of professional practice alongside a commitment to continuous professional development.

Applicants should be self-motivated, adaptable, and demonstrate a positive and flexible approach to work. You will be expected to always use and develop your professional judgement, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and support the training, supervision, performance and development of staff.
