We're looking for a Senior Ecologist to join our Kier Design team based in Gloucester.
Location: Gloucester
Hours: 37.5 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

What will you be responsible for?
As a Senior Ecologist, you'll be working within the Kier Design team, supporting them in delivering ecological services on a high-profile landscape-led major highways project in Gloucestershire. The role will predominantly provide support on the A417 Missing Link project, with the opportunity to also support on a wider portfolio of projects. You'll be site-based and responsible for overseeing the delivery of ecological mitigation including the construction of a green bridge, numerous wildlife crossings and vast areas of habitat creation.
Your day to day will include:
- Leading on the delivery of ecological services on the A417, as well as other projects across road, rail, water and property sectors
- Overseeing the management of construction risks associated with ecology and ensuring mitigation measures are correctly implemented
- Supervising contractors to ensure compliance with environmental management plans, consents, licences and agreed methodologies
- Carrying out pre-construction checks, regular site inspections and producing toolbox talks
- Leading client and stakeholder meetings whilst mentoring junior ecologists
What are we looking for?
This role of Senior Ecologist is great for you if:
- You hold an ecology degree or equivalent experience and are a member of CIEEM or equivalent
- Have demonstrable experience as an ecologist on projects with a robust understanding of UK nature conservation legislation and policy
- Can demonstrate strong report writing skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Are experienced working collaboratively with designers and other key stakeholders effectively
- You hold a full driving licence
