About the Job
In partnership with The Busy Group, Gloucester Rugby is excited about the launch of our new alternative provision, The Busy School at Gloucester Rugby. Delivering academic and employability skills as well as a new esports programme, the provision launches in September 2026 for learners aged 14 -18. It is designed to re-engage young people across Gloucester, helping them reconnect with education, build confidence and develop future pathways.
We’re looking for an experienced Learning and Behaviour Support Coach to support the Lead Teacher in delivery of education, employability and esports programmes that re-engage young people and create positive life pathways across the Gloucester area.
The successful candidate will support our young people with their educational needs, build positive and professional relationships and be a confident communicator, able to engage individuals from different backgrounds with varying needs and levels of motivation.
In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting participants to develop their knowledge, skills and self-belief. By creating inclusive, supportive and engaging environments through education, sport and esports you will help individuals re-engage with learning, develop essential life skills and explore meaningful next steps for their future.
This role is particularly suited to someone with strong behaviour management skills who is confident supporting young people with a range of behavioural and learning needs, including those who may find traditional education challenging. You will understand the importance of clear boundaries, consistency and high expectations, while using positive relationships and trauma-informed approaches to understand behaviour, support regulation and help young people re-engage successfully with learning.

Experience working with young people in an education setting.
Ideally experience working in an alternative provision setting.
Experience supporting individuals with a range of needs, including those at risk of disengagement.
Confidence supporting young people with English and Maths learning.
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills, with the ability to maintain clear boundaries and consistent expectations.
Confidence supporting young people with SEMH, SEND and/or behavioural needs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
A passion for using sport, physical activity or esports as a tool for engagement and development.
Self-motivated, adaptable and able to take initiative in both delivery and project work.
A calm, resilient and proactive approach, with the confidence to respond appropriately to challenging situations.
An understanding of trauma-informed practice and how this can be used alongside positive behaviour management to support engagement and regulation.

Key Accountabilities
The successful candidate will be an important part of the Foundation, working closely with the Head of Charitable Delivery to deliver the Foundations ‘Changing Lives through Rugby’ strategy and to prioritise project delivery and program innovation.
Their key job accountabilities will be:
- Work alongside teaching staff to support the effective delivery of engaging lessons and learning activities.
- Provide targeted classroom support to individual learners and small groups, including support with English and Maths.
- Support effective classroom management, maintaining clear routines, boundaries and expectations.
- Use positive and consistent behaviour management strategies to promote engagement and minimise disruption.
- Adapt approaches and learning activities to meet individual learner needs, including SEMH and SEND.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with young people to support their engagement and personal development.

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge
Essential
Qualifications:
Experience working within a school, alternative provision or other education setting.
Experience managing challenging behaviour and using positive behaviour management strategies.
Experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEND and/or barriers to education.
A strong understanding of safeguarding procedures within education or other settings.
Educated to a minimum of GCSE standard or equivalent, including good levels of literacy and numeracy.
Desirable
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant/Learning Support qualification or equivalent.
Minimum two years' experience supporting young people within education.
Experience within Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist education.
Experience supporting Functional Skills English and Maths.
Training in positive behaviour management, Team Teach or equivalent.
Training or experience in trauma-informed practice.
Relevant Youth Work qualification.
Experience in sports coaching or delivering physical education programmes.
Experience of coaching Rugby Union.
Minimum Standards
Outside of the essential requirements for the role, we must comply with the minimum standards set by our governing bodies. All employees must meet these standards when working for us and we will provide the necessary training where required.
