Full job description

We’re looking for a Kitchen Lead to join the team at Handsome Sandwich.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You’ll work closely with our Prep & Logistics Lead to keep everything organised, maintain high standards, and make sure the kitchen runs smoothly every day.

We’re looking for someone with chef experience who enjoys working with good food and wants to be part of a growing independent business. We care about quality, consistency and doing things properly, and we’re after someone who feels the same.

The role includes:

Leading the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Supervising and supporting the kitchen team.
Maintaining excellent food hygiene and food safety standards.
Completing all food safety paperwork and due diligence.
Working closely with our Prep & Logistics Lead on stock, prep and ordering.
Ensuring every sandwich leaving the kitchen meets our standards.
Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and running efficiently.
Helping train and develop the team.

We’re looking for someone who:

Has previous experience working as a chef.
Is organised, reliable and leads by example.
Has a good understanding of food hygiene and HACCP.
Is comfortable working in a busy service and leading a small team.
Loves sandwiches! and gets excited about great ingredients and simple food done really well.
Enjoys working for independent businesses and wants to be part of one that’s growing.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to our ever evolving menu and help shape what we do.

We offer 32–37 hours a week, competitive pay depending on experience, staff meals on shift, and the chance to be part of a close-knit team where you’ll have real responsibility and make a genuine impact.
