Job Summary
Due to the pending retirement of a long standing member of our Tool Room team, Guy-Raymond Engineering are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in our inhouse Tool Room.
The post is full-time, working 39 hours per week, day time only, Monday to Friday.

This exciting opportunity would suit an individual with a strong mechanical background and experience in machining processes, including CNC milling and turning; manual milling and turning; manual grinding, cylindrical and surface.
The position involves working with CAD and SolidWorks software to interpret technical engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring accurate and precise workmanship.
A commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency is essential in this role.
Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to produce complex parts according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Perform grinding, milling, and other machining operations with precision to meet quality standards.
- Be computer literate and able to interpret CAD files, utilise SolidWorks, and read/interpret technical engineering drawings.
- Ability to program and troubleshoot machines.
- Conduct routine inspections of machined components using hand tools and measurement devices such as calipers and micrometers.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Utilise power tools and hand tools effectively during setup, maintenance, or repair tasks.
- Assist in tooling selection, setup, and adjustments to optimise machining processes.
- Apply basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and quality checks.
- Support plastics injection moulding processes when necessary, ensuring compatibility with machined parts.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks to ensure timely completion of projects.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in operating CNC machinery and reading technical engineering drawings.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and tooling equipment.
- Familiarity with grinding, milling, welding, and plastics injection moulding processes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
- Metric and imperial knowledge would be an advantage.
- Ability to maintain tools, including: strip, clean, inspect, replace parts, lubricate and reassemble; pressure test and remove cooling water from tool.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality assurance purposes.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in precision machining tasks.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
