New Graduate Veterunary Surgeon - Small animal and Equine

Isabelle Vets, Guernsey

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic new graduate to join our RCVS-accredited, first-opinion small animal and equine practice.

We're a busy practice with an interesting caseload and a truly supportive team. "I have been here 11 years, and I absolutely love the place." - quote from our lovely Practice Manager, Elle.

For the introductory period, new graduate vets go onto a rotary system where they do 1 week of equine, 1 week of small animal, 1 week of surgeries and 1 week of prep room. This is with another vet (experienced) until we feel they're comfortable to do consults/visits on their own.

From the start of your career, you'll feel supported, we have our VetGDP with Mairi Le Cocq, our clinical director, who will assist you throughout your time here, alongside the support offered via the new graduate programme with VetPartners.

Competitive starting salary.

The rota is:

4 days a week, 8AM - 6:30PM
1 in 3 weekends worked (either working a normal Saturday or a full on call once confident)
One on call in the week
If working a full weekend on call, 2 days are given off before and after the weekend. (Usually a Thurs/Fri and then a Tues/Weds but this can change)

We offer a retainer for being on-call (full retainer charges when solo on-call) which are:

£300 Mon-Friday equine/small animal
£400 Sat/Sun/Bank holiday equine/small animal
£150 equine on call only Mon-Fri
£200 equine on call Sat/Sun/Bank holiday

The practice is furnished with all the equipment required to investigate and treat conditions medically and surgically, in light of the geographical limitation for referral.

You’ll be joining us at an exciting time with a new equine and small animal facility planned for 2026/2027!

There are good transport links to the UK with flight times from as little as 40 minutes or ferry sailings from just 3 hours.
