Job description

You will be required to provide proactive and professional HR support across the employee lifecycle, ensuring policies, procedures and practices are applied consistently and in line with employment legislation. You will be responsible for dealing with, database management, accurate data entry and timely processing of monthly payroll and employee benefits. Additionally, you will provide administrative and HR support to the Head of People & Culture, sometimes dealing with caseloads and people issues with guidance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Provide first-line advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures and employment matters.
Support and manage employee relations including absence, disciplinary, grievance, capability, flexible working and performance management.
You will be managing two HR databases, ensuring accurate input for onboarding and offboarding.
Coordinate recruitment activity, interviews and offers, as required.
Dealing with contracts of employments, offer letters, resignations and other people-related documentation.
Lead on the accurate and timely delivery of the monthly employee payroll, ensuring statutory reporting requirements are met
Lead on payroll processes including tax, NI and statutory elements using the Company payroll system, ensuring RTI, FPS, EPS and Pension auto-enrolment are completed and complied with.
Asist with the completion of HR reports when necessary.
Other administrative duties which may include assistance with recruiting/note taking at formal HR meetings such as disciplinaries and/or exit interviews.
Update attendance records, highlighting any potential areas of concern and reporting.
Accurately dealing with a wide range of fixed pay rates and commission and bonus payments.
Provide accurate payroll administration from new starters through to managing leavers, administering pay and benefits, updating records for changes, and ensuring leavers are processed appropriately.
Co-ordinate employment-related activity and communication between Payroll, People & Culture, Finance and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of accurate employee data.
Updating and maintaining accurate payroll records, including on PeopleHR, processing monthly BACS payment and issuing electronic payslips.
Issuing P11D’s, P60’s and P45’s as necessary.
Pension scheme management and ongoing pension administration including auto enrolment.
Liaising and arranging regular pension reviews for staff with the Company broker.
Undertaking regular reviews and making improvement changes as required to systems and processes to ensure fit for purpose and efficient methods of work are in place.
Liaising with the Financial Controller where necessary for monthly payment of salaries, commissions and bonuses where applicable.
Group People Management system and the payroll database - keeping all data accurate and up to date.
Cover front of house & Admin duties as required

Profile

Experience of HR within a SME is essential. Previous payroll experience dealing with both weekly/monthly payroll from start to finish and good working knowledge of a payroll system would be ideal, but training can be given on the job.

The successful candidate would ideally have;

Experience within HR environment
Experience in payroll
Experience of computerised payroll system
Knowledge of statutory payments and deductions
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
High levels of numeracy
Excellent skills using Microsoft software, MS Word and Excel
Up to date knowledge of current legislation
Ability to work with discretion
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Flexible approach and a positive attitude
Ability and desire to work in a friendly team
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Responsible for maintaining a professional and harmonious working relationship with all colleagues, customers, clients, agents and third-party business partners or representatives of the Company
