Time-lapse Installation TechnicianAbout Interval Films

Interval Films is a Bristol-based time-lapse company working on ambitious construction, film, television and live-event projects across the UK and internationally.

Since 2009, we have designed, installed and managed professional camera systems that capture projects developing over weeks, months and sometimes years. Our work has documented everything from major construction and infrastructure projects to film studios, live events, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and concert changeovers at Wembley Stadium.

We combine photography, engineering and technology to create reliable camera systems capable of operating remotely in demanding environments. Every project presents a different challenge, so we are constantly developing new mounting, power and connectivity solutions.

About the role

We are looking for a practical and technically minded Installation Technician to join our small Bristol team.

This is a varied, hands-on role where very few days are the same. You might be surveying a rooftop with a client, installing a solar-powered camera on a construction site, fault-finding an existing system or preparing equipment in our Bristol workshop for the next project.

You will be trained in the full process of delivering professional long-term time-lapse projects, including:

Conducting site surveys and advising on camera positions
Installing cameras, mounting systems, towers, solar panels and batteries
Configuring and testing camera, power and communications equipment
Maintaining and troubleshooting systems already in the field
Preparing, testing and packing equipment for upcoming installations
Keeping our workshop, vehicles, tools and stock clean and organised
Communicating confidently with clients, site managers and other contractors
Recording work accurately and reporting any issues to the team

There will also be opportunities to develop skills in photography, videography and drone operations, helping us capture completed projects and produce finished films for our clients.

What the job is like

You can expect to spend around two to four days per week on the road, visiting sites throughout the UK. Some projects may also involve overnight stays or occasional international travel.

Early starts are a regular part of the role, with 6:00 or 7:00am departures often required. Working days can vary in length depending on the location and complexity of the installation.

We are a small team, so everyone plays an important part. We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing things properly, can remain calm when plans change and is keen to develop the confidence to manage installations independently.

Essential requirements

Full, clean UK driving licence
CSCS card
Comfortable working at height
Strong practical and mechanical ability
Confidence using hand and power tools
Good general technical competence
A logical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving
Good attention to detail
Professional and confident communication with clients
Willingness to travel, start early and occasionally stay away from home
IPAF 3a and 3b qualifications desirable

Experience with cameras, electronics, solar power, networking, construction sites or low-voltage systems would be useful, but we are more interested in your attitude, practical ability and willingness to learn.
