Join WinWink as our Head of Marketing
Location: Bath (Hybrid)
Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 per annum depending on experience, plus performance bonus
Are you a commercially sharp marketer looking for a new challenge, like stewarding a small (7 FTEs) but fast growing business in an emerging niche? Whether you've led a function before, or you're a superstar marketing manager already doing the job above your title and waiting for someone to hand you the whole thing, we want to hear from you.
WinWink is a UK-based online competition platform offering prize draws across categories such as tech, collectibles and experiences. Founded 6 years ago, we have over 1,600 five star reviews validating our position as a genuine and trusted destination for amazing chances to win great prizes.
We have grown quickly and made real strides across the rest of the business. Marketing now needs someone to grab it by the horns and accelerate it. This is a role for a marketer who leads and does. You will set the strategy and deliver it alongside your team. If you're looking for hands-off, this isn't it.
This role will own WinWink's marketing outright, with a capable team to lead and founders who will back your calls rather than second-guess them. It's an excellent opportunity to come into a successful, growing, all action company with a meaningful marketing budget and stamp your mark on it.
On the salary range
We've deliberately left it broad because we're open on level. If you've led a marketing function before, we'll pay for that experience. If you're stepping up into your first Head of role, we'll back you with coaching and leadership support so you're building judgement rather than guessing. We'd rather find the right person and work out the level than filter on it upfront.
Key Areas of Responsibility
As our Head of Marketing you will own the marketing strategy, report on its progress and hit the revenue targets that come with it.
Commercials
- Own the marketing budget and the outcomes it produces. Every pound of spend needs to earn its place against contribution, not clicks.
- Report performance to the founders and own the marketing numbers in our leadership meeting.
Paid strategy
- Own our primary growth channel across Meta, Reddit, Google and TikTok, scaling what works and building new opportunities.
- Set the testing discipline, and the rules for when we scale and when we cut.
- Open up new channels, from OOH to affiliate. Prioritise, plan, execute and make repeatable.
Omnichannel performance and growth
- An ever evolving beast. Email has always been a key channel for us. However we recently launched a new app and are in the testing stage of using push notifications, have a new Whatsapp community and have barely scratched the surface on SMS. This all needs careful planning and direction so it’s done right.
- Improve retention and repeat purchase through segmentation, flows and structured testing.
Organic and community
- Work with our community and content team so organic complements paid rather than simply running alongside it.
Team development
- Steer and develop our performance marketer and our community and content lead (plus any new heads that are added). The existing team is capable and needs direction more than management
We're a small team delivering on a large scale, therefore you will get exposure to many different areas of the business. Responsibilities might include:
- Inputting into competition ideation
- Becoming an in-house champion for one of our niches
- Occasional on-camera contribution and supporting live draws
Working Environment
Hybrid Working: 3 days per week in our Bath office for collaborative work, filming and creative team meetings, with flexibility to work remotely for the remainder. (Specific days to be confirmed.)
Flexibility Required: Due to the nature of our fast-paced and bi-weekly live-streams, there will be a requirement to work outside of regular hours on occasion. We will always provide advance notice and balance to overall working hours.
Autonomy: You will own this function. We'll back your calls rather than second-guess them.
Support and Development: We'd rather invest in you than hire over you. That means coaching and leadership support as and when it makes sense.
Essential Skills / What You'll Bring
Whatever your level, you're still genuinely hands-on. You own the customer lifecycle from segmentation through to flows. And you're comfortable with numbers, including the ability to challenge the information in front of you, find the holes and work out why a tracking setup is lying to you.
As a person, you set your own direction and run at problems rather than around them. You're comfortable being accountable for the outcome. You can build and coach a small team, take direct feedback without flinching, give it just as plainly and you would rather ship and learn than polish forever.
If you're coming in at the senior end, you have led marketing at a senior level and have a real track record of growing revenue and establishing new channels while improving profit. You can plan brand, influencer and offline media so they pull in the same direction as digital.
If you're stepping up, you'll have at least four years in marketing, with hands-on experience across all marketing disciplines, running offline campaigns to all things digital - from community building and omnichannel communications to content creation, affiliate strategies and ads management. Show us you've grown quickly across your previous roles and that you've got the appetite to run at something bigger than you've had before, plus the honesty to say when you're out of your depth. What we're not expecting is a decade of experience or a CMO track record. We're backing trajectory, energy and ownership.
We're open to candidates from all backgrounds however the following would be advantageous.
- Experience in gambling or iGaming, or in subscription and non-traditional
- ecommerce
- Experience planning and measuring offline or out-of-home media
- A feel for trading cards, collectibles or gaming audiences, particularly our core categories: Pokémon, Warhammer, Lego or gaming tech
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 12 months, the successful candidate will have:
- Delivered significant topline growth with measurably improved net margin and EBITDA.
- Materially improved paid performance efficiency and opened at least one new performing channel at scale.
- Run integrated brand, influencer and traditional media campaigns that demonstrably contributed to commercial outcomes.
- Lifted retention, conversion and reactivation metrics against clear baselines.
- Strengthened the WinWink brand and supported successful entry into new prize categories.
- Built a high performing, well trained marketing team set up to scale further.
- Established themselves as a credible, trusted leader of the brand.
