We're looking for calm, resilient people to join our therapeutic children's home in Trafford, Manchester, as part of a close-knit team. We currently have two types of role available: a core Waking Night Children's Support Worker position on a fixed rota, and a Relief Waking Night Children's Support Worker position for someone wanting flexible part-time hours.

The Roles
Our young people are well settled, and most nights follow a calm, predictable routine. Some nights may be quiet and focused on housekeeping and admin. Occasionally, a young person may wake unsettled, anxious or in need of reassurance, and your consistency in those moments matters just as much.
Waking Night Children's Support Worker (Full-Time)
You'll be one of two core night workers, working a fixed 3 nights on / 4 nights off rota, alternating so you get a full weekend off every other week. You'll be the steady, familiar presence our children rely on overnight.
Relief Waking Night Children's Support Worker (Part-Time)
You'll hold one guaranteed night each week, plus flexible additional shifts covering the core night team's leave, sickness and training. You're what keeps our night cover consistent all year round - a genuinely valued part of the team, not just occasional bank cover. This could suit someone looking for reliable part-time hours alongside another commitment, such as study or another part-time role.
Main Duties
- Support children and young people overnight in line with their care plans
- Stay awake and alert throughout the night shift
- Carry out regular checks in line with care plans and risk assessments
- Support young people who wake during the night or need emotional reassurance
- Complete house chores to keep the home clean, tidy and welcoming, including light cleaning, laundry and kitchen tasks
- Update and maintain individual care plans, daily logs and handover notes
- Report any safeguarding concerns or incidents correctly
- Work closely with the day team and colleagues for smooth handovers

Requirements — Essential
- Genuine interest in supporting children and young people
- Willingness to work towards a Level 3 or 4 qualification in Residential Childcare
- Good understanding of safeguarding
- Able to commit to your rota pattern, including weekends and bank holidays as required
- Enhanced DBS required, or willingness to complete one
- Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
Desirable
- Experience in care, education, SEN, youth work, mental health or supported living
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and positive behaviour support
- Full UK driving licence
