We are looking for a CNC Programmer to join the team at Quantum Turned Parts Limited (Quantamatic). Quantamatic is part of the CQC Group of Companies, including Clinical Health Technologies Limited and Caress Manufacturing Ltd.
Reporting to the Production Manager, and working closely with the CNC Programmer & Supervisor, the job holder will be responsible for setting up, operating and monitoring CNC machines to produce precision components in line with engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards and production schedules. The role will involve carrying out machine adjustments and programming, monitoring cycle times, tool wear and machine performance. The job holder will also be required to conduct inspection checks using measuring equipment, and identify and report any non-conformances or process issues.
Key Accountabilities
CNC Operation & Maintenance:
- Set up, and operate, sliding/fixed head CNC machines in line with engineering drawings, specifications, and CNC Programmer & Supervisor instructions
- Run CNC programs while monitoring machine performance and making adjustments as necessary
- Support the CNC Programmer & Supervisor to monitor cycle times and tool wear, making real time adjustments as necessary, including to feeds, speeds, and coolant flow
- Carry out machine adjustments and programme edits
- Identify and report any non-conformances, defects or process issues promptly to the CNC Programmer & Supervisor
- Support efficient production by working to output targets, deadlines and agreed schedules
- Maintain machine performance by carrying out routine checks and basic TPM activities
- Carry out tasks as delegated by the CNC Programmer & Supervisor, and the Production Manager
Quality & Documentation:
- Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and specifications to ensure parts meet exact tolerances
- Produce precision components to the required tolerances and quality standards
- Conduct first-off, in-process and final inspection checks using manual measuring equipment
- Ensure all work is completed in line with quality procedures and customer requirements
Health & Safety, and Environment:
- Keep work areas, machines and equipment clean, safe and well organised
- Follow health and safety requirements, as necessary in a machine/mechanical shop environment
- Adhere to the Company’s environmental management system and actively contribute to environmental initiatives
Person Specification
Experience:
- Prior experience with CNC machines, ideally Citizen/Star brand, or similar
- Experience in a precision machining/engineering environment
- Previous experience working with metal components
- Experience with fixed-head CNC would be advantageous
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to identify and correct machining errors quickly
- Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings, e.g. CAD drawings and specifications
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Fanuc or similar controls is advantageous
- Understanding of CNC programming (G-code/M-code), machining processes, and CNC-specific controls

Hours of Work
- 37.5 hours per week
- 8:00am - 4:00pm (M-F)
