We're looking for an organised, proactive and detail-focused Packaging Technologist to take ownership of all packaging across our branded and own-label ranges.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys managing multiple projects, working across departments and playing a key role in bringing new products to market.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for managing the complete packaging lifecycle, from concept and development through to implementation and ongoing maintenance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing all packaging specifications across branded and own-label products.
- Developing packaging for new products and continuous improvement projects.
- Maintaining packaging data, specifications and Master Product Data Sheets (MPDS).
- Coordinating artwork approvals and ensuring project timelines are achieved.
- Producing palletisation data and transport configurations.
- Working closely with suppliers to obtain technical information and specifications.
- Supporting retailer and customer requirements.
- Completing Valpak and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting.
- Ensuring packaging complies with all relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Managing packaging trials, transit testing and shelf-life testing.
- Working collaboratively with Technical, Procurement, Production, NPD, Sales and Marketing teams.
- Identifying opportunities to improve packaging performance, sustainability, efficiency and cost.
- Building strong relationships with packaging suppliers and identifying innovative packaging solutions.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Experience in a packaging, technical or food manufacturing role.
- Knowledge of packaging materials and specifications.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable:
- A qualification in Packaging Technology, Food Science or a related discipline.
- Experience working with retailer own-label products.
- Knowledge of Valpak and EPR reporting.
- An understanding of packaging legislation and sustainability requirements.
