Mission
The Wellness is a doctor-led private clinic built around precision diagnostics and preventive care. We help people understand their health in detail, through advanced blood panels, imaging and physician-led interpretation, and we track that picture over time through WAI, the medical intelligence we build in house.
Our aim is simple. Catch things early, act on them properly, and give every patient a clear plan they actually follow. Every clinician who works with us exists to make that care feel considered, accurate and personal.
Why Work With The Wellness
We are building a clinical bench of the best of the best. If you work with us, you will practise alongside doctors who hold the same bar you do, with the diagnostics, the support and the time to do the job the way you were trained to do it.
Patients who expect to be looked after properly. People come to us for the standard of the care and the attention that comes with it. Consultations are thorough, the reasoning is explained rather than asserted, the evidence behind it is current, and somebody follows up. We can also provide that care at the time a patient needs it, whether that is at short notice, early, late or at the weekend.
Care that is personal. Where a patient already has a history with us, you will have it in front of you before they sit down, with their previous results and their trend lines. Appointments run for as long as the consultation needs, and you are briefed on everyone you see.
Evidence first, always. Every recommendation is grounded in current research and UK clinical guidance. We retest, we adjust, and we are comfortable telling a paying patient that something is not indicated. We would rather be right than impressive.
The administration is carried for you. With the patient's consent, WAI drafts the note, the letter, the referral and the prescription, files the results and prepares the follow-up. You review and you approve. Nothing leaves this clinic without your signature, and no clinical decision is made by software.
Complimentary access to WAI Clinician. Doctors who work with us are given WAI Clinician at no cost, including for use in their practice elsewhere. Reasoning, scribing, evidence and letters at the point of care. It supports your practice. It does not replace your own professional indemnity.
You will help build the technology. WAI is designed and built here, by engineers who work directly with the doctors who are using it. When a clinician tells us that something is wrong, missing or slower than it should be, that goes to the people writing the code. Doctors who work with us have reshaped how the product handles referrals, letters and results, and we expect that to keep happening.
You are paid for your time. Hourly, for the sessions you work. There is no buy-in, no room rent, no equipment charge, no invoices to raise and no payment to chase. We bill the patient, we deal with the insurer, and we pay you for the clinic you delivered.
Role Purpose
You run our minor operations list. Lesions, cysts, lipomas, ingrowing toenails, joint and soft tissue injections, all under local anaesthetic.
Patients choose us for this work because of how it is done. The doctor who consents them is the doctor who operates on them and follows them up, the histology is chased rather than awaited, and the result is explained properly. We can also assess and treat them within days rather than months. That doctor is you.
What You Will Deliver
- A minor operations list run to a consistent, documented standard, from consent through to histology and follow-up.
- Excision and biopsy of skin lesions with appropriate margins, and clear escalation of anything suspicious into a definitive cancer pathway rather than onto your own list.
- Sebaceous and epidermoid cysts, lipomas, skin tags, ingrowing toenails and comparable day-case work under local anaesthetic.
- Joint and soft tissue injections, with ultrasound guidance where it is indicated.
- Every specimen tracked, every result actioned and every patient told, with nothing left sitting in a tray or an inbox.
- Open surgical governance. Complications, infection rates and histology concordance audited and reviewed with the clinical team.
What We Are Hiring For
- Technical discipline. Sterile field, margins, closure and documentation are held to the same standard on every list, and your notes record exactly what happened.
- Knowing your limits. The best minor surgeons refer more, not less. You hand work to a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon without hesitating.
- Consent done properly. The patient understands the scar, the recurrence rate and the option of doing nothing before they are on the couch.
- Calm hands. Bleeding, an unexpected finding or an anxious patient does not change your pace.
- Cosmetic awareness. Our patients will see the result in the mirror for the rest of their lives, and you operate accordingly.
Requirements
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise, and inclusion on the GMC GP Register.
- Documented, current competence in minor surgery, with a logbook of procedures performed over the last two years that we can review.
- Training in local anaesthesia, aseptic technique and surgical instrument handling to a recognised standard.
- Confident dermoscopy and lesion triage, and the judgement to distinguish what belongs on a minor operations list from what belongs with a specialist.
- Independent indemnity that explicitly covers minor surgical procedures in private practice.
- Current life support training.
- Current appraisal and revalidation, a DBS check at the level appropriate to the role, arranged through our credentialing process, and the right to work in the UK.
Preferred
- Accreditation under the RCGP framework for GPs with Extended Roles.
- Cryotherapy, curettage and electrosurgery.
- Ultrasound-guided injection technique.
- Fine closure on the face and other cosmetically sensitive sites.
- Previous work in a CQC-registered surgical setting, and experience building or auditing a surgical SOP.
Everything under Requirements is a regulatory or safety condition and is not negotiable. Everything under Preferred is. We hire for judgement first, and it is not uncommon for us to bring in outstanding doctors from adjacent fields.
How the Engagement Works
- Sessions are agreed in advance and scheduled around your existing NHS or private commitments.
- The engagement is on a self-employed basis under a contract for services. You hold your own professional indemnity, and we pay you for the sessions you work.
- You will be credentialed through our clinical governance process before your first clinic, and you practise within our policies, our record keeping and our CQC registration.
- Clinical decisions and clinical responsibility remain yours. Our systems give you back time. They do not make the call.
- Sessions can grow. Clinicians who take on more of the list are given more of it, and the doctors who help us build a service tend to end up leading it.
Compensation
Hourly, and competitive for London private practice. You are paid for clinical time booked, and you are never charged for rooms, equipment, consumables or administrative support. As the clinic reaches key milestones, additional benefits and rewards unlock for the clinicians who got us there. Full details can be discussed during the process.
Hiring Process
Our process is selective by design and moves quickly for the right person.
- Application, with your CV and a short note on the scope of practice you would want to offer here.
- Introductory call with the relevant clinical lead.
- Clinical conversation, including case discussion, with the doctors you would be working alongside.
- Credentialing and governance checks. GMC registration, appraisal and revalidation, indemnity, DBS, references and scope of practice sign-off.
- A first clinic, paid, so that both sides can see how the work actually feels before either of us commits.
- Confirmation of your sessions, and induction to WAI.
