Brunch Chef & Kitchen Assistant

About Us

Hidden is a vibrant, cosy café and takeaway in Middlestown offering a relaxed dining experience with a big-city twist. We pride ourselves on serving exceptional breakfast, brunch, and Neapolitan pizzas, all crafted with the finest ingredients. We are looking for a dedicated, experienced kitchen professional to join our friendly team and help maintain the high standards our loyal community expects.

The Role

As our Brunch Chef and Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our kitchen. This is a minimum 34.5-hour role: you will take ownership of quieter daytime services, working independently, while providing vital support during our high volume weekend evening services. We're also working towards moving Hidden to 7 day trading, and once you're settled in, you'll take ownership of running those additional days.

Key Responsibilities

Cooking & Prep: Take the lead during weekday breakfast/brunch services and meticulously prep ingredients for busy evening and weekend services.
Evening Service Support: Work longer shifts from Friday to Sunday to ensure our fast-paced Neapolitan pizza and evening food service runs smoothly.
Kitchen Operations: Assist with plating dishes, general food preparation, and ongoing kitchen duties.
Hygiene & Cleanliness: Keep on top of food safety and cleanliness day to day, with deep clean duties built into a shared kitchen schedule rather than left to one person.
Stock Management: Assist in receiving deliveries, ensuring proper stock rotation, and maintaining organised storage areas.
Collaboration: Work closely and communicate effectively with the front of house team to deliver exceptional service.

What We Are Looking For

Experience: Previous experience working in a fast paced commercial kitchen environment is essential.
Independence: Comfortable and confident running the kitchen solo during quieter weekday shifts, with full team support on hand once it gets busy.
Work Ethic: Highly organised, proactive, and capable of maintaining quality and speed during busy rushes.
Team Player: A friendly, positive attitude with a willingness to jump in and support the team wherever needed.
Attention to Detail: A strong focus on presentation, portion control, and strict adherence to hygiene standards.
Physical Stamina: Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods and handling the physical demands of a busy kitchen.
