Long-served plumbing and heating all-rounder who just wants to do tool work, do it properly, and be part of a proper team? This is the one.
We've been doing this since 1906. We know the trade, we know what good engineers want, and we know what they don't — which is being messed about, being micromanaged, or being handed a scrappy diary and a shrug.
This is a cards-in, PAYE, permanent role for a genuine all-rounder — someone equally at home diagnosing a gas fault as they are throwing in a new cylinder, chasing down a leak, fitting a bathroom, or dropping in a boiler. Wet side and gas side, equal measure.
You've been at this long enough that no one needs to tell you how to do it. You just want to turn up, crack on, get it right first time, and go home. We want that too.
What you'll do
- Reactive plumbing — leaks, bursts, blockages, dripping taps, failed valves, dodgy WCs
- Boiler installs, servicing, breakdowns and gas fault-finding
- Unvented cylinder swaps — comfortable throwing one in on a same-day install
- Bathroom first and second fix — from strip-out to second-fix taps
- Rad swaps, TRVs, motorised valves, controls, power flushes
- Copper, plastic, soldered, push-fit — all of it, done properly
- Diagnose fast, fix first time — that's the standard on every job
- Be a decent teammate — the office, the other engineers, the customer, all of it
What we handle so you don't have to
- Quoting — done before you arrive
- Material ordering and delivery — sorted
- Customer phone calls, deposits, invoicing, chasing — not your problem
- Scheduling and diary management — office handles it
- Marketing and lead gen — entirely on us
- Shower pump installs in lofts — we genuinely don't do them. If that's your thing, this isn't your gig.
What you'll need
- Long-served in the trade — 10+ years ideal, we want someone who's seen it all
- Gas Safe registered — properly current, tickets in date
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 Plumbing & Heating
- Unvented ticket
- Genuine all-rounder — equally strong on plumbing AND heating AND gas, no weak side
- Sharp diagnostic brain — spot the issue fast, sort it on the first visit
- Van-ready with your own tools, gas analyser, the lot
- Clean appearance, decent manner with customers, someone we'd put in our own mum's house
- Bloody loves the trade — someone who just wants to be on the tools, not chasing promotion into an office
If you specialise in one side and shrug at the other — this isn't for you. We want the engineer who fits a bath in the morning, diagnoses a boiler fault after lunch, and swaps a cylinder before knocking off. Proper all-rounders only.
What you'll get
- Competitive salary — reflective of experience, no nonsense
- Company van and fuel card
- Cards-in, PAYE, permanent — pension, holiday, sick pay, the proper stuff
- Genuine variety — plumbing, heating, gas in equal measure, no two days the same
- Steady, planned work with reactive call-outs slotted in sensibly
- Office team that actually answers the phone and sorts problems out
- Proper team around you — engineers who take pride in the work
- Long-term home with a 100+ year-old Yorkshire firm — we play the long game
