About the Role

38 Weeks per year

The Student Wellbeing Adviser plays a key part in creating a supportive, inclusive and empowering environment for students across Leeds Conservatoire and University Centre Leeds.

Supporting our HE students aged 18+, you will work as part of the Health & Wellbeing team to help students thrive throughout their university journey. You will identify and respond to emerging support needs, provide one-to-one interventions around wellbeing, mental health, academic pressures, and the transition to university life.

Through a blend of individual support, workshops, community-building activities, and partnership working, you will help create an inclusive environment where students feel supported, connected, and able to achieve their goals.

Potential start date September 2026, in time for the new academic year.

Actual salary for 38 weeks per year commencing at £24,567 with progression £26,010 per annum.

What You Will Do

Manage a caseload of students, providing regular one‑to‑one support and delivering workshops focused on wellbeing, mental health, emotional issues, lifestyle, time management, academic challenges, and navigating conservatoire processes and regulations.
Assist in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of service delivery to ensure high‑quality, responsive support.
Will work within the Health and Wellbeing team and in collaboration with staff across Leeds Conservatoire & University Centre Leeds to monitor student progression, identify emerging support needs, and contribute to strategies that enhance student success.
Support the planning and delivery of student events and social activities that promote engagement, inclusion, and a strong sense of community.
Recognise when specialist support is required and make appropriate internal or external referrals where necessary.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with external organisations and partner agencies to support student needs and wellbeing.

About You

Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
Strong communication skills, empathy and the confidence to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds, including those who are underrepresented in higher education.
Comfortable managing a caseload, building trust, and offering practical and emotional support.
Your approach will be flexible, student‑centred and grounded in equality, inclusion and safeguarding.
Enjoy problem‑solving, collaborating with colleagues, and using data and feedback to improve services.
If you have lived experience that informs your understanding of wellbeing, or the challenges students face, we value that deeply and encourage you to apply.
