Full job description

We have an excellent career opportunity for the role of Trainee Support to join our amazing team here at Paperworks at our fantastic location based in Seacroft, Leeds.

Working times: 37.5 hours per week working Monday to Friday. 9am start and 5pm finish. We don’t work on weekends.

Pay: £25,000 per year.

Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays

Please note - people do NOT need experience in care for this role. We are very much interested in your values as a person and we provide excellent training for all staff.

We do not offer any form of sponsorship.

Our interview process is an exciting three stage process (This will all be completed within a 2 week period, so please ensure that you are available for this before applying):

Firstly we will have a Teams meeting to get to know each other, ask and answer any questions
Secondly, a face to face interview, in which you are shown around and will spend a short time with our trainees. You will then be asked to complete a very short written task and answer further simple questions which are more situation and scenario based.
Excitingly, you will then be offered a "trial shift" (around 2 hours) where you will work alongside trainees on a job they would typically do. This is for you to see if this is the right place for you.

What does a typical day look like working with us?

This is a really rewarding role supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and other physical and mental health needs (our trainees) participate in our workshop, fulfilling commercial work on a daily basis.

You will work closely with the training and production teams to maintain a friendly environment in which trainees can develop their skills and participate in all activities on offer. We do NOT provide any personal care.

You will support trainees to complete work for our commercial clients which involves daily orders, re- working, preparing products and more. This can be an active role which will require you supporting trainees to participate standing, moving lifting boxes appropriately and transporting trolleys around the workshop. This will require you to communicate with the production team daily to ensure trainees are completing work to a high standard, accurately and on time. You will also support trainees over lunch and break times and with general daily routines. This role entails working in small groups or 1:1 as required. You will help maintain a friendly environment in which trainees can develop their skills and participate in all activities on offer. You will also be required to support the team with monitoring and recording, liaising with parents/ carers/ transport/ visitors as requested by your manager.

Key tasks are:

Actively support trainees to learn how to complete jobs in the workshop according to the instructions given and to the correct standard.
Role model behaviour expected in the workplace and helps them understand how they need to behave in line with this including appropriate boundaries.
Work with trainees using appropriate language, resources, structure and routine to support their individual needs.
Supervise and support the trainee team to complete customer work in the workshop in small and large groups.
Support trainees in their emotional development and in their relationships with others.
Support trainees to develop independence.
Encourage trainees to reach their full potential by helping them work on the goals they have set themselves.
Use a variety of resources to support training and development of trainees including timetables and actions contained within support or behaviour plans.
Develop small well being activities as needed.

We are a social enterprise and a registered charity. Our main aim is to enhance work skills and well being for adults with learning and physical disabilities, autism and other complex needs, who we call trainees.

We offer a unique work-based environment where trainees undertake work for our commercial clients such as picking and packing orders, box assembly and processing confidential wastepaper.

Our training package is supplemented by a wellbeing program, and short courses based around life and employability skills.
