Pharmacy Dispensary Team Leader (Full-time, Office-based)

About Personal Homecare Pharmacy (PHP)

We are a busy distance-selling pharmacy with over 10 years experience in fertility medication and biologics, working collaboratively with the NHS and private clinics nationally. Role Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Pharmacy Dispensary Team Leader to join our fast-growing Homecare Pharmacy team. This is a full-time, fully office-based role (40 hours per week).

You will be responsible for leading and managing a team of dispensary staff, ensuring the dispensary runs safely, efficiently and in full compliance with SOPs and legal/regulatory requirements. You will support day-to-day operational delivery, coach performance, maintainhigh standards of accuracy and pace, and work closely with Pharmacists and other departments to efficient service delivery.

You will work alongside other Team Leaders and report to the Pharmacy Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Dispensary Team Leadership & Performance

Lead, motivate and manage a team within the dispensary function.

Provide coaching, mentoringand on-the-job support and regular check-ins to maintainhigh standards.

Conduct performance reviews, set clear expectations and support development plans.

Manage performance concerns, capability issues, conduct matters and absence management in line with policy.

Promote a positive, collaborative, high-accountability team culture.

Safe Dispensing & Operational Oversight

Oversee the safe and accurateselection, labelling and dispensing of medicines in accordance with prescriptions, SOPs and legal requirements.

Ensure high standards of accuracy, pace and attention to detail across the team.

Support workflow planning and allocation of work to meet daily targets and dispatch timelines.

Ensure safe and correct transfer of dispensed items for delivery to patients.

Ensure medicine-related queries are escalated promptly to the Pharmacist where required.

Quality, Compliance & Governance

Ensure the dispensary team consistently follows SOPs, company policies and regulatory requirements.

Conduct regular checks/audits to ensure compliance and patient safety.

Support incident management: identify risks, take immediate corrective action and ensure learning is captured.

Ensure accurate record keeping in line with patient safety and data protection requirements.

Stock Control & Storage Standards (including cold chain)

Ensure stock is received and stored in line with SOPs, including correct temperature-controlled storage where applicable.

Support stock control activity and maintenance of reasonable stock levels.

Ensure stock movements and storage practices are safe, compliant and organised.

Encourage team vigilance to prevent losses, write-offs and avoidable stock issues.

Communication & Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with Pharmacists and other departments (e.g., Patient Services, Procurement, QA) to support seamless patient care.

Handle/escalate operational issues professionally and promptly.

Support effective handling of internal/external queries within your area of responsibility.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Pharmacy Services/Dispensing.

Minimum 5 years Team Leader/ Supervisor experience.

Proven ability to work accurately at pace with excellent attention to detail.

Confident using pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office.

Strong communication skills with a calm, professional approach.

Desirable

Experience in distance-selling/homecare pharmacy, fertility medicines, biologics, or high-volume dispensing.

Experience supporting audits/quality checks and driving process improvements.
