The Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) is at the forefront of the Sizewell C nuclear power station development - one of the UK’s largest and most exciting infrastructure programmes.
We’re responsible for preparing the foundations of the entire site: designing and constructing cut‑off walls, retaining structures, soil improvements and more. The Role
To provide support and advice to operational teams on all aspects of health and safety management, developing health and safety documentation, meeting legal, company and project standards and helping deliver a safety culture of continual improvement and delivering the highest standards. Understand the Clients and Regulators requirements to ensure their health and safety requirements are complied with and work with supply chain to ensure they meet their legal and contractual obligations. Support the site teams to eliminate, minimise and mitigate risk to protect the operational teams, project management, visitors and members of the public.
What You'll Be Doing
HSE Strategy & Compliance: Implement the project H&S strategy, ensuring full compliance with legal, contractual, and organisational requirements, and maintaining alignment with codes of conduct and evolving regulations.
Advice, Support & Communication: Provide expert HSE advice and timely support to project teams, ensuring all enquiries are handled accurately and responsibilities are clearly understood and met.
Culture & Behaviour: Promote a positive safety culture across all levels, actively challenging unsafe behaviours and encouraging strong team engagement on HSE matters.
Planning & Risk Management: Support project planning activities, including risk assessments, method statements, and construction phase plans, ensuring all operations are effectively controlled and compliant.
Training & Competence: Deliver training programmes, inductions, and toolbox talks, ensuring workforce competence aligns with project requirements and HSE action plans.
Monitoring, Auditing & Improvement: Conduct audits, support inspections, and maintain oversight of HSE systems to identify gaps, drive continuous improvement, and ensure standards are upheld.
Incident & Hazard Management: Lead incident investigations, manage hazard and observation reporting, and ensure corrective actions are implemented, closed out, and lessons learned are shared.
Stakeholder & Site Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensure a visible site presence, support PPE management, and contribute to reporting for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
