Full job description

S&A Group is the UK’s largest independent strawberry grower. The Group, which also has berry-growing operations overseas, uses modern and innovative growing techniques to drive and support its thriving year-round soft fruit import business.

This is a part-time, term-time only position designed to provide flexible employment opportunities for individuals who are available to work during school hours. The role offers a regular and predictable working pattern, providing stable and reliable part-time employment.

It is suitable for individuals seeking a working pattern that fits around their personal commitments, education, family responsibilities, or other circumstances. The position may also appeal to those looking for greater flexibility, improved work-life balance, or a reliable part-time role with consistent working hours.

Employment type

Part-time, Term-time (approximately 39 weeks per year)

Working hours

Monday to Friday

09:30 - 14:15

Please note that the working hours for this role are fixed and form an essential part of the position. Successful applicants will be expected to work the above hours throughout their employment in this role.

Transport

To support our employees, free company transport is provided.

A company bus will collect you from your designated pick-up point and return you to the same location at the end of each working day.

Main responsibilities

As an agricultural worker, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our farming business. Typical responsibilities include:

Carrying out a range of plant and crop care tasks: weeding, crown thinning, general field works.
Maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene and food safety at all times.
Complying with all Health & Safety requirements, company policies and operational procedures.
Meeting agreed productivity, quality and daily operational targets.

Training and Support

A full induction and comprehensive training programme will be provided before you commence work. Your supervisor and management team will provide the guidance and support necessary to enable you to perform your duties safely, confidently and to the standards expected by S&A Produce Group.

Pre-Selection Taster Day

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a Taster Day, giving you the opportunity to experience the role before making a commitment. During the day, you'll become familiar with the tasks, meet the team, and learn more about our company and working environment. It also gives both you and us the chance to assess whether the role, company culture, and working style are a good fit for your skills, preferences, and career goals.
