Thermal Fogging Operative
Location: Based near Hereford
Employment: Full-time, employed position
Salary: Competitive
Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence essential
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Thermal Fogging Operative to join our team.
This is a varied and unusual role involving the thermal fogging of poultry houses, grain stores and other agricultural and commercial premises. The role would suit someone who enjoys working independently, is comfortable travelling and doesn't want to be tied to a typical 9–5 working week.
The Role
As a Thermal Fogging Operative, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out thermal fogging work at poultry farms, grain stores and other sites.
- Travelling to customer premises, generally within approximately 1.5 hours of our yard in Hereford.
- Driving company vehicles to and from customer sites.
- Towing a trailer to transport equipment and materials to and from jobs.
- Safely coupling, uncoupling and manoeuvring the trailer.
- Setting up and operating thermal fogging equipment safely and correctly.
- Following company procedures and customer requirements.
- Working independently as a lone worker on many occasions.
- Completing the necessary paperwork and job records.
- Looking after company vehicles, trailers and equipment.
- Maintaining a professional and reliable service for our customers.
Working Pattern
This is a full-time employed position, but it is important to understand that this is not a conventional Monday–Friday, 9–5 job.
The nature of the work means that working hours can vary considerably. The role may involve:
- Early morning starts.
- Late-night finishes.
- Weekend work when required.
- Some longer working days.
- Some very short working days.
- Periods during quieter times where there can be considerable time off during the week.
Weekend work is generally minimal, although some weekend availability is required.
This role could be particularly well suited to someone who values flexibility and time off during quieter periods, rather than working fixed hours every day.
What We're Looking For
Previous thermal fogging experience is not essential, as full training will be provided.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and punctual.
- Hardworking and willing to get stuck in.
- Comfortable working alone.
- Able to work independently and use their own initiative.
- Flexible regarding working hours.
- Comfortable working early mornings and late nights when required.
- Happy travelling to different customer sites.
- Confident driving a vehicle while towing a trailer.
- Comfortable manoeuvring and reversing a trailer safely.
- Professional and polite when dealing with customers.
- Physically capable of carrying out the requirements of the role.
- In possession of a full UK driving licence.
A good attitude and willingness to learn are more important than previous thermal fogging experience.
What We Offer
- Full-time permanent employment.
- Competitive salary.
- Full training provided.
- Varied and interesting work.
- A high degree of independence.
- Flexible working patterns due to the nature of the business.
- Periods of significant time off during quieter periods.
- The opportunity to develop specialist skills within the agricultural and environmental services sector.
The Person
This position is ideal for someone who doesn't mind working outside normal hours, enjoys being out on the road and is happy being responsible for getting a job completed without someone standing over them.
You will need to be comfortable driving, towing a trailer, travelling to different locations and working alone.
If you are looking for a standard 9–5 position, this probably isn't the role for you. However, if you like variety, independence, flexibility and having blocks of time off when the work is quieter, we'd like to hear from you.
To apply: Please send your CV and a brief covering message outlining why you feel you would be suitable for the role.
Pay: From £34,320.00 per year
Work Location: In person
