Full job description

Thompson & Co Solicitors are expanding their Crime Department and invite applications from Crime Duty Solicitors.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established firm with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality criminal defence services across police stations, Magistrates’ Courts, and the Crown Court. Thompson and Co offers a supportive working environment together with genuine opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Applications are welcomed for both full-time and part-time positions (minimum of three days per week) or consultancy, with a high degree of flexibility available.

Our current offices are located in London (Tooting, Southall, and Morden), with further expansion planned.

We are seeking an Accredited Duty Solicitor to join our team in readiness for the October 2026 Duty Rota, with inclusion on the July 2026 CRM12 submission. We welcome applications for full-time or part-time positions (minimum 3 days per week).

We offer a highly competitive remuneration package that is significantly above market rate.

The Role

You will undertake:

Police station representation
Magistrates’ Court advocacy
Case preparation and file management
Participation in the duty rota from day one (subject to CRM12 listing)
Management of your own caseload with strong administrative support
Compliance with all LAA requirements, including quality standards and audit readiness

What We are Looking For

A solicitor holding the Criminal Litigation Accreditation (CLSA), eligible for immediate duty-work inclusion
A genuine commitment to a career in Criminal Defence
Strong advocacy and client-care skills
Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload
Understanding of LAA contract compliance, file management requirements, and audit standards
Willingness to work at least 3 days per week (part-time) or full-time hours
Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team
