Full-Time September 2026 Start Mainstream Primary School Newham

Are you a recent Psychology Graduate looking to gain valuable school-based experience before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health, or Teaching?

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Newham is seeking an enthusiastic Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity, providing invaluable classroom experience while supporting pupils across the Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.

The school is particularly interested in applications from graduates who have studied at a UK university, with Russell Group graduates strongly encouraged to apply.

The Role

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers and the school’s SEND team, supporting children with a range of learning needs and helping them to achieve their full academic, social, and emotional potential.

You will provide classroom support, deliver targeted interventions, and work with pupils both individually and in small groups, gaining hands-on experience that is highly relevant for graduates pursuing careers within psychology, education, and child development.

Responsibilities

Support pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
Provide 1:1 support for pupils who require additional learning or emotional support.
Support children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and other Special Educational Needs (SEND).
Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development.
Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and the SENCO.
Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

This role offers excellent experience for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Child Psychologists, Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Mental Health Practitioners, and Teachers.
