Airport Transfer Supervisor

For over 70 years, St Giles has been dedicated to delivering exceptional English language

learning experiences. Everything we do begins and ends with our students: from the

moment our young learners arrive, our teams work to ensure they are engaged,

supported, and having the educational experience of a lifetime. St Giles Juniors

welcomes students from over 50 countries and is recognised as a leading provider of

high-quality, culturally enriching summer programmes. Our residential Junior courses

cater for learners aged 8–17, and our Family courses welcome children from 5–15,

depending on location. Every member of staff is an ambassador for our ethos: placing

student experience at the centre, upholding our high standards, and contributing

positively to the shared mission of delivering an unforgettable summer.

Our aim is to create a safe, supervised environment where young people can learn, grow,

Job Description

Reports to: Operations Coordinator

Pre-Course:

Attend staff training and induction before first arrivals day.

General

Manage a team of Airport ‘meet and greet’ staff at the airport

Ensure your staff have been provide with their arrivals and departures lists and

their jobs are clearly allocated

Liaise with the Operations Coordinator and ensure the WhatsApp group is kept

up to date

Perform ‘Meet & Greet’ duties at Heathrow or/and Gatwick airport, greeting

students at terminal gates and escorting them to the coaches/taxis booked for

them.

Ensure all students have a positive and enthusiastic ‘St Giles welcome’ on

arrival and a warm goodbye on departure.

Escort departing students to departure gates and ensure they safely go through

security.

Liaise with coach drivers and taxi drivers, where required, to coordinate pick up

points.

Keep accurate records of arrivals and departures

Safeguarding:

Take responsibility for the welfare of all St Giles Juniors students. Report any

safeguarding concerns to the Operations Coordinator.

Check IDS of students/suppliers to safeguard students at all times

Take responsibility for students when escorting them through busy areas and

crossing roads in and around the airport.

Person Specification

Essential Desirable

Eligibility to work in UK Experience of working with speakers of

languages other than English

18+ years old Knowledge of the airport/local area

Experience working with children and/ or

teenagers

Ability to speak a second language

Enthusiasm, energy and maturity

Confidence in managing groups of

children/ teenagers to ensure student

safety and discipline

Ability to react positively to last-minute

changes in a calm, collaborative and

professional manner

Can-do, approachable, positive and

friendly attitude

Weekly Schedule

Working days are on Sundays between 7am and 9:30pm at either London Gatwick or

London Heathrow airport (please specify your preference) and Wednesdays between

7:30am and 9:30pm at Heathrow airport. Your shift will be up to 10 hours in total.

Start and finish times will depend on the arrival/departure times that week. You will

get a 30-minute unpaid meal break and receive a reimbursement for any food and

drink purchased at the airport up to the value of £12 per day.

The cost of train tickets between a Brighton station or a London terminal station and the

airport will be reimbursed weekly.

Salary

£15.09 per hour plus accrued holiday pay.

Returnees

At the end of the successful completion of their contract, returnees will receive a bonus

based on the number of consecutive summer seasons they have been employed by St

Giles Juniors since 2023.

3 or more summers (2023, 2024, 2025) - £180

2 Summers (2024 and 2025) - £120

1 Summer (2025) - £60
