Meridian Electrical Contracting Ltd is looking for an experienced Senior Approved Electrician / Site Supervisor to join our growing team.
This is not a standard installation role. We deliver high-quality commercial electrical projects, often within prestigious occupied buildings across London, where planning, professionalism and attention to detail are just as important as technical ability.
You will take responsibility for leading projects at site level, supervising operatives, liaising with clients and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the exceptionally high standards our clients expect.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading electrical installation teams on commercial projects.
- Carrying out electrical installations, testing and commissioning.
- Reading and working from drawings and specifications.
- Managing day-to-day site activities and resolving technical issues.
- Maintaining excellent relationships with clients, consultants and other trades.
- Ensuring all work complies with BS7671 and current health & safety legislation.
- Producing site documentation, test certification and quality records where required.
- Planning and coordinating works to ensure programmes are achieved.
- Supervising subcontractors and direct labour.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with a minimum of 10 years' experience delivering commercial and industrial electrical installations to a consistently high standard.
You will have extensive experience across a broad range of electrical works, including:
- LV switchboards and panel boards
- Large SWA and AWA cable installations and terminations
- Rising busbar and busbar trunking systems
- Generator and UPS installations
- Power distribution and containment systems
- Lighting, emergency lighting and life safety systems
- Inspection, testing and fault finding
- Working within occupied commercial buildings and critical environments
You should be confident interpreting drawings, planning works, leading installation teams and overcoming technical challenges on site with minimal supervision.
You will need:
- ECS Gold Card (Approved Electrician)
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent Inspection & Testing qualification)
- SSSTS (SMSTS advantageous)
- Emergency First Aid at Work
- Asbestos Awareness
The following would be advantageous:
- LV Authorised Person (AP)
- Experience working on live, occupied commercial buildings
- Generator, UPS, life safety or critical power experience
- IPAF and PASMA
If you are not already an LV Authorised Person, you must be willing to undertake the training.
The Type of Work
Our projects are predominantly located within the M25 and include:
- Commercial offices
- Critical power installations
- Live occupied buildings
- Distribution board and switchgear replacements
- UPS and generator installations
- Lighting upgrades
- Life safety systems
- Design and build projects
Many of our projects require meticulous planning and flawless execution, often working around occupied buildings and demanding client programmes.
Working Hours
Standard hours are:
08:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday
Due to the nature of our work, flexibility is essential. Projects regularly require:
- Early starts
- Late finishes
- Night working
- Weekend working
All hours worked outside standard working hours are paid at 1.3x your normal hourly rate.
Work is primarily within the M25. Employees are expected to arrive within the M25 at the start of their working day in their own time. Public transport costs (Tube, rail, etc.) incurred whilst travelling within the M25 during the working day will be reimbursed.

Probation
Employment will initially be on either:
- A 6-month probationary period; or
- A CIS day-rate arrangement, transitioning to PAYE following successful completion.
