Job Description:
Technical Claims Leadership and Portfolio Insight
At AXA XL, our Claims team sets us apart. Our experienced claims professionals use their specialist expertise to handle complex claims, deliver excellent customer outcomes and support better business decisions. We are focused on technical excellence, continuous improvement, collaboration and colleague development.
This is a development-focused technical leadership role for someone with strong Property and/or Construction claims experience who wants to broaden their impact beyond individual case handling. You do not need to have held a formal practice leader role before, but you will bring strong technical judgment, curiosity, analytical thinking and the confidence to influence others.
As Associate Regional Claims Practice Leader, you will work closely with the UK & Lloyd’s Property & Construction Claims teams, Property & Construction Underwriting, fellow Practice Leaders, Actuarial and Claims Management. You will support complex claims oversight, portfolio analysis, large loss governance and the sharing of trends, lessons learned and practical insights.
This role would suit someone who is already recognised as a strong technical claims specialist and is ready to step into a broader role involving technical coaching, portfolio insight, stakeholder engagement, catastrophe support and continuous improvement.
You will be part of the Claims Practice Community, sharing insights and experience across products and geographies, while demonstrating AXA XL behaviours and values in everything you do.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
Your essential responsibilities will include:
-
Provide technical guidance on complex Property and Construction claims, including large losses, emerging exposures and claims requiring senior oversight.
-
Review portfolio trends, watchlist developments and claims data to identify lessons learned, emerging risks and opportunities to improve claims outcomes.
-
Support large loss governance, including roundtables, watchlist reviews, reserving discipline and compliance with the Large Loss Framework.
-
Work with claims teams, underwriting, actuarial, legal partners and senior management to turn claims insight into practical action and better business decisions.
-
Coach and support colleagues, helping to build technical capability and promote consistent, high-quality claims handling.
-
Build effective relationships with brokers, clients, external experts and internal stakeholders, including supporting client engagement, training and business retention activity where appropriate.
-
Contribute to reporting, controls, governance and process improvement initiatives across the product line.
-
Support catastrophe management and reporting, working with the Regional Claims Practice Leader and wider claims community as needed.
You will report to the Regional Claims Practice Leader, Property & Construction / Claims Manager, Property.
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Skills and experience that would be helpful, but are not essential:
-
Lloyd’s and subscription market experience.
-
Experience with large loss governance, watchlist reporting, roundtables or reserving oversight.
