Full job description

Working Mums Daycare & Pre-School in the heart of East Sheen is a modern, purpose-built nursery caring for up to 105 children from 3 months to 5 years. Open since 2011, we have built a warm, nurturing and well-established community for local families across four dedicated, age-specific rooms. Every space is bright, spacious and filled with natural light, with thoughtfully designed features including a sensory room, a well-equipped preschool classroom and a beautiful roof garden that gives children daily access to outdoor play. Our on-site kitchen provides freshly prepared, nutritious meals every day.

We are proud to be the only nursery, school or childminding setting in both Richmond and Kingston to have achieved the Healthy Early Years London (HEYL) Award. Our greatest strength is our team, with many practitioners having been with us for several years, allowing children to build secure attachments and giving families a consistent experience. We are now looking for an enthusiastic and caring Nursery Practitioner to join us and help give every child the best possible start.

About the role

As a Nursery Practitioner you will provide warm, high quality care and education for the children in your room, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Working as part of a friendly and supportive team, you will help create a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where children feel secure, valued and excited to learn.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering engaging, child-led activities and experiences that support each child's learning and development
Acting as a key person for a group of children, planning for their individual needs and maintaining accurate observations and records
Building warm, trusting relationships with children and supporting them to explore, play and develop independence
Making the most of our roof garden, sensory room and healthy living ethos to support children's wellbeing and physical development
Building positive partnerships with parents and carers, keeping them informed and involved in their child's progress
Supporting children's care routines, including feeding, nappy changing and rest times, with patience and sensitivity
Ensuring all safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare requirements are met at all times, in line with EYFS and our policies
Working closely with your Room Leader and the wider team to maintain the highest standards of care

About you

We are looking for someone who is passionate about early years and genuinely loves working with young children. You will have:

A full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification as recognised by the Department for Education (or be working towards one)
A warm, caring and enthusiastic approach, with a genuine commitment to giving children the best possible start
A good understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development (or a willingness to learn)
An interest in healthy living, nutrition and physical activity is a real plus
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
A paediatric first aid certificate is desirable, though we can support you to gain this
