Job Title: Area Manager

Responsible to: Care Director and Company Director

Job Purpose

The role of the Area Manager will oversee the care of the children in their cluster of residential care homes. The cluster consists of between 7 to 10 homes ( maximum 10), in the East Midlands area.

We are looking for an experienced Manager / Area Manager in dealing with homes registered for the care of young people with Emotional Behaviour Difficulties and Learning Disabilities. Given the diverse portfolio of young people we care for, experience working with individuals with learning disabilities would be highly valuable.

The Area Manager would work with a child centred approach in which the child’s wishes and views are listened to and acted on. You would be an inspirational leader for your team and ensure outstanding care is always provided for our young people.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Report directly to the Care Director and be part of a Senior Leadership Team.
To ensure excellent Safeguarding practices underpin every decision made.
Monitor quality and manage performance of operational delivery in the Children's Homes, ensuring that the legislative and Children's Homes regulations are met.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure services are meeting regulatory requirements by Ofsted. Reporting outcomes to the Care Director.
To ensure the homes operates with the home’s Statement of purpose.
To ensure all homes achieve an Ofsted grade of the highest calibre.
Work in partnership with other agencies to the benefit of the young people.
To be a Designated Safeguarding Lead for the company on a rota basis.
Oversee and manage rota expectations for their homes in the cluster to ensure the homes are always adequate staffed by adults.
Conduct incident investigations as directed by Safeguarding or Care Director.
Mentor, Support and Supervise Registered Managers, with regular supervisions.
Using a child centred approach in which the child’s views are the most important and be committed to achieving the very best outcomes for the children.

Person Specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential

* You must have experience in EBD and LD as a Registered Manager of a children’s home for at least 3 years rated good or above.

* The Level 3 in residential childcare is essential for this role and Level 5 in Leadership and Management qualification is a good qualification to consider.

* To have a sound knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations/Quality Standards and SCiFF.

* An extensive knowledge of Safeguarding to keep our young people safe from any harm. Being able to manage and mitigate the risks involved.

* Be able to demonstrate excellent personal Leadership and Management qualities and to lead a team on an inspirational journey to change lives of young people.

* You will have knowledge of Pace and inspire a therapeutic approach in the home and guide colleagues and encourage a reflective approach to care.

* All applicants must have a valid manual Driving License for this role as you will be vising all the homes in your cluster.

Monday to Friday 9am till 5pm, 40 hours a week

Salary

Up to £65,000 depending on experience per annum.
