Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work as a trainee ABA therapist for a busy SEN school in Maidenhead.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, pupils, and external specialists to facilitate personalised learning experiences. for children on the Autistic spectrum. This role offers an enriching opportunity to make a positive impact on the development and well-being of children with diverse needs, including those with autism and other disabilities. The position is paid and ideal for individuals passionate about supporting children's growth and fostering an inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Responsibilities

Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes for pupils with special educational needs, including those with autism and disabilities.
Support individualised learning activities and behavioural interventions to promote engagement and progress.
Provide one-to-one support for children, including toddlers, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the school day.
Facilitate communication between pupils and staff, employing effective communication skills to support understanding and expression.
Assist in managing behaviour and creating a calm, supportive environment conducive to learning.
Support pupils during classroom activities, breaks, and outings, ensuring inclusivity and participation.
Collaborate with external specialists such as speech therapists or occupational therapists to implement recommended strategies.
Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behavioural observations as directed by teaching staff.

Qualifications

Experience working with individuals with autism, disabilities or in special education settings is highly desirable.
Prior experience working with children or toddlers in educational or care environments.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, teachers, and parents.
Compassionate, patient, organised, and adaptable approach to supporting diverse learners.
Relevant qualifications or training in special education needs (SEN), teaching assistance, or related fields are advantageous but not essential.
A genuine passion for supporting children's development and fostering inclusive learning environments. This role provides an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the lives of children requiring additional support while developing valuable skills within the field of special education.
