Full job description

Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Reports to: Senior Assistant Accountant

Position Type: Part time (18 hours per week- 3 days per week )

Location: Hybrid

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 pro-rata, depending on experience

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our team. This will be a varied role, that offers a fantastic opportunity for an individual to work in a fast-paced growing organisation with the opportunity to progress their career as the business expands.

What you’ll be doing:

Take ownership of Purchase ledger and ensure that invoices are accurately coded and that costs are recovered for cost of sales purchases,
Perform monthly Supplier statement reconciliations,
Assist with problematic customer and supplier accounts and help maintain effective credit control and supplier payments,
Coordinate payment runs to support smooth financial operations,
Raise customer invoices on Meddbase/Xero when the need arises,
Monitor and manage the Accounts inbox, categorising emails and sorting into folders and investigating and resolving queries efficiently,
Monitor and process staff expenses, ensuring expense forms, receipts, and approvals are completed and ready for payment by the following Friday,
Provide ad-hoc reporting and other activity as required,
Place the core objectives of the finance team at the centre of everything we do and take accountability for the role.

What You'll Need To Succeed:

Well-rounded accounting experience within a busy, high-volume SME environment - AAT or QBE required.
Strong numeracy skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Xero accounting software.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—both written and verbal.
Exceptional attention to detail, self-motivated, persistent, resilient, and committed to meeting deadlines.
A proactive problem solver who takes responsibility and effectively resolves issues.
Friendly, motivated and enjoys being part of a team.
