Advert Wording

As a Family Help Lead Practitioner, you will be expected to assess the needs, risks and strengths of children, young people and their families. You will work creatively with all family members, engaging effectively with children, young people and their families to develop support plans and complete targeted work with families to support them to address their identified needs.

Alongside case work, Family Help Lead Practitioners also work with families to provide the best quality Family Time between children, young people and their families. This involves organising and facilitating Family Time for children subject to care proceedings with their families. Working closely with parents, carers, Social Workers and children to ensure Family Time meets the needs of children and young people.

You will use a multi-disciplinary agency approach and restorative practice to deliver coordinated support.

The role will involve working professionally and creatively with all family members, engaging effectively with children, young people and their families from a variety of backgrounds. You will work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

You will be proactive and persistent in your ability to engage children, young people and their families with multiple and complex needs.

A level 4 qualification in working with families or an equivalent would be advantageous, but is not essential, but you will need substantial experience of working with vulnerable families from diverse backgrounds to deliver improved outcomes.

You will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding in practice and understanding of safeguarding procedures.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence, and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car (exceptions may be made for disabled applicants).
