Scope of work

We are seeking an inspiring and committed leader who shares our vision of stronger, healthier and more resilient communities and can lead our charitable services to achieve meaningful and lasting change.

Purpose of the Role

The Charitable Service Lead is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of New Era's charitable service delivery.

The postholder will oversee the development, quality, performance and impact of services across Employment, Skills and Education; Health and Wellbeing; and Families and Communities.

Working closely with the CEO, Operations Manager and wider Leadership Team, the role will ensure services are safe, effective, outcome-focused and aligned with New Era's mission, values and strategic objectives

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

1.1. Lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of New Era North West's charitable services.

1.2. Contribute to organisational planning, growth and business development opportunities

1.3. Ensure services remain responsive to community needs, emerging priorities and funding opportunities..

1.4. Promote collaboration across teams, programmes and partners to maximise impact.

2. Operational Management and areas of responsibility

Employment, Skills and Education

Providing leadership and oversight of programmes that support people to:

2.1 Improve employability and workplace skills.

2.2 Access learning, education and personal development opportunities.

2.3 Overcome barriers to employment and training.

2.4 Build confidence, independence and resilience.

2.5 Progress towards positive education, employment or volunteering outcomes.

Health and Wellbeing

Providing leadership and oversight of programmes that:

2.6 Improve emotional health and wellbeing.

2.7 Promote positive mental health.

2.8 Support individuals experiencing challenges affecting their wellbeing.

2.9 Deliver preventative and early intervention support.

2.10 Improve confidence, resilience and life opportunities.

Families and Communities

Providing leadership and oversight of programmes that:

2.11 Strengthen families and relationships.

2.12 Support children, young people and parents.

2.13 Promote community engagement and participation.

2.14 Reduce social isolation and inequalities.

2.15 Build stronger, safer and more connected communities.

3. Quality and Impact

3.1. Maintain high standards of service delivery

3.2. Ensure robust systems for monitoring and evaluation and impact measurement and oversee quality assurance processes.

3.3. Use performance data, outcomes and beneficiary feedback to inform service development and demonstrate impact.

4. Safeguarding

4.1. Maintain oversight of safeguarding, risk management and compliance across all services.

4.2. Ensure services operate in line with organisational policies, funding requirements and relevant legislation.

4.3. Ensure compliance with funding agreements, contracts and relevant legislation.

4.4. Monitor and manage operational risks.

4.5. Support inspections, audits and external reviews.

5. Partnership and Community Engagement

5.1. Develop and maintain effective relationships with commissioners, funders, partners and stakeholders.

5.2. Represent New Era North West at meetings, networks and events, acting as an ambassador for the organisation.

5.3. Strengthen referral pathways and collaborative working with local authorities, schools, colleges, NHS partners, employers and VCSE organisations.

6. Professional

6.1. Lead, motivate and support managers and staff to achieve individual, team and organisational objectives.

6.2. Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive culture that reflects New Era North West's values.

6.3. Support staff wellbeing, learning and professional development.

6.4. Champion equality, diversity, inclusion and person-centred practice across all services.

6.5. Maintain professional standards and ensure evidence-based approaches are embedded within service delivery.

6.6. Contribute to organisational learning, innovation and continuous improvement.

7. General

7.1. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the responsibilities of the post.

7.2. Work flexibly to meet the needs of the organisation, including occasional evening or weekend work where required.

7.3. Comply with all organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, GDPR and confidentiality requirements.

7.4. Promote and uphold the vision, mission and values of New Era North West at all times.

7.5. Act in the best interests of the organisation, its beneficiaries, staff, volunteers and stakeholders.
