Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our automotive service team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting vehicle safety inspections to ensure compliance with MOT standards and performing comprehensive mechanical repairs and maintenance. Duties
- Perform thorough MOT tests on a variety of vehicles, ensuring all safety and environmental standards are met or exceeded
- Conduct detailed mechanical inspections to diagnose issues accurately and efficiently
- Carry out repairs, replacements, and maintenance tasks using hand tools and power tools to restore vehicle performance
- Assist in heavy lifting of vehicle parts or equipment safely and following proper procedures
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and service history for each vehicle
- Ensure all work complies with legal regulations, manufacturer specifications, and safety protocols
- Ability to communicate clearly about findings, repairs needed, and service recommendations
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems including brakes, suspension, engine components, and electrical systems
- Proficiency in using hand tools
- Proficient with power tools used in automotive repair
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling parts or equipment during repairs or inspections
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate testing and quality of workmanship
- Good communication skills to explain technical issues clearly
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high safety standards
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Lincoln LN1 2FU: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- MOT Testing and working in a garage : 3 years (preferred)
