Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Design Technician to join our expanding team based in Newquay, Cornwall.

The Role
As a Design Technician, you will support our engineering teams in producing high-quality technical drawings and design packages for clean water, wastewater and utility infrastructure projects.
You will work closely with Civil Engineers, Project Managers and Survey teams to develop construction-ready drawings whilst ensuring compliance with client standards, industry regulations and company quality procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality CAD drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare General Arrangement, Detailed Design and Construction drawings.
- Develop pipeline alignment drawings, long sections and cross sections.
- Produce chamber, thrust block, valve and civil detail drawings.
- Assist in the design of clean water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Prepare drawing revisions and maintain drawing registers.
- Produce As-Built and Record drawings following construction.
- Interpret topographical, PAS128 utility and site investigation surveys.
- Assist engineers in developing detailed design solutions.
- Coordinate information received from survey teams and third-party consultants.
- Ensure drawings comply with client CAD standards and quality requirements.
- Support technical submissions, construction packs and tender documentation.
- Attend site visits where required to understand project constraints and assist with design development.
Desirable Project Experience
Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Water mains
- Sewer diversions
- Rising mains
- Pumping stations
- Pressure reducing valve installations
- Trunk mains
- Treatment works
- Highway utility schemes
- Trenchless crossings
- Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Network alterations
- Developer services projects
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a CAD or Design Technician role.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of civil engineering drawings.
- Ability to read engineering specifications and technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred).
Desirable Skills
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
