Wignall’s Ltd is looking for an organised, practical and proactive Warehouse Team Leader to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our warehouse and support our busy workshop and installation teams.
We’re a well-established joinery company working across a wide range of commercial and retail, bespoke projects. This is a varied, hands-on role and would suit someone who enjoys keeping things organised, leading a small team and making sure everything is in the right place at the right time.
The Role
You’ll lead the warehouse team and take ownership of the smooth running of the warehouse, including stock control, goods in and out, deliveries, collections and general organisation.
Day-to-day, you’ll:
- Lead and support the warehouse team, organising workloads and priorities.
- Ensure that routine checks required as part of the Factory Production Control System are completed.
- Receive and check deliveries, ensuring goods are recorded, labelled and stored correctly.
- Keep track of outstanding orders and proactively chase missing or late items.
- Organise and collate materials and products for individual projects and upcoming installations.
- Work with Commercial Project Manager, Production Manager, Retail Manager, and Site Installation Teams to understand what materials are needed and when.
- Maintain accurate stock records, carry out stock checks and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor regular stock and consumables and identify when items need replenishing.
- Coordinate deliveries, supplier collections, waste collections and movement of materials.
- Make sure installation teams have the correct materials, tools and equipment before leaving.
- Manage damaged or incorrect goods, supplier returns, replacements and credits through to resolution.
- Help keep company vehicles, tools and warehouse equipment safe, organised and well maintained.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe warehouse, external storage areas and yard.
- Look for practical ways to improve organisation, efficiency and working practices.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is reliable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility.
You’ll need good attention to detail, good IT and numeracy skills, willing to work overtime when required and the confidence to communicate with colleagues, managers and suppliers.
Previous warehouse, stock control or logistics experience is important, along with some experience of supervising or leading others. Experience within joinery, construction or manufacturing would be useful, but isn’t essential.
Most importantly, we want someone with a positive, hands-on approach to problem solving. If something isn’t right, we want you to investigate it, take sensible action and help find the solution rather than simply pass the problem on.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being at the centre of a busy operation and takes pride in running a safe, organised and efficient warehouse.
