Full job description

To provide high-quality, child-centred care and support to children and young people living in an Ofsted-regulated residential home. You will help create a safe, nurturing and supportive environment that promotes positive outcomes, emotional wellbeing, independence and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day care, support and supervision for children and young people.
Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with children and young people.
Promote safeguarding and protect children from harm at all times.
Support children to attend education, training and appointments.
Encourage independence and teach valuable life skills.
Plan and participate in recreational, educational and social activities.
Support children with emotional and behavioural needs using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
Maintain accurate daily records, reports and care documentation.
Administer medication in accordance with company policies (following appropriate training).
Work in partnership with families, social workers, schools and other professionals.
Attend team meetings, supervision sessions and mandatory training.
Promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
Maintain a clean, safe and homely environment.
Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies and challenging behaviour, following company procedures.

Essential Requirements

Minimum Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
Full UK Driving Licence (preferred).
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Compassionate, resilient and reliable.
Flexible to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.

Desirable

Previous experience working in residential childcare or a similar setting.
Knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
Understanding of trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches.
Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
